We recently had the chance to connect with Nicole Blessing and have shared our conversation below.
Nicole, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
My short film, Temple of the Money Changers 2.0, recently screened at the Silicon Beach Film Festival. The event was at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood. The film won Best Comedy Short. Think The Righteous Gemstones meets Silicon Valley, with lipstick, scripture, and crypto wallets. I wrote, directed, produced, acted in, and edited the film. I am incredibly honored and proud that my efforts were recognized.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Nicole Blessing, a SAG-AFTRA actress, model, and voiceover professional who recently made my directorial debut with my short film, Temple of the Money Changers 2.0.
My work spans regional and national commercials, print campaigns, and voiceover projects for film and advertising. I have recorded voiceovers for more than 200 commercials, corporate e-learning solutions, and industrials, and have narrated over 120 audiobooks across fiction and nonfiction.
In addition to voice work, I appeared as a regular on-air model for a national live-televised home shopping network, specializing in fashion, jewelry, watches, and beauty products. I also perform stand-up comedy regularly in Los Angeles, further shaping my unique approach to timing, character, and audience connection.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has most shaped how I see myself is the one with my husband, Fred. I grew up in a very stifling environment, where I was constantly told “no,” “you can’t do that,” or “you won’t be good at that.” I was seen as someone who wasn’t capable. Fred changed that. He was the first person who truly believed in me—who encouraged me to try new things, follow my passions, and see myself in a new light. His belief in me helped me build a confidence I didn’t know I had. I honestly don’t think I’d be the person I am today without his love and encouragement.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that’s held me back the most is the fear of not being good enough. Growing up, I was constantly told—through words and actions—that nothing I ever did or said was good enough. My adult sisters regularly ridiculed, belittled and bullied me, and I internalized the message that nothing I did would ever measure up. My parents turned a blind eye to their behavior. The ongoing message that I received was to “let it go in one ear and out the other”. That’s right, as a child, it was expected, no demanded, that I be a bigger person than adult women. For a long time, I carried that belief as truth. But eventually, I realized I had a choice: I could keep living under that shadow, or I could step out of it. Cutting that negativity out of my life was hard, but it freed me. Once I faced that fear, I discovered a strength and confidence I didn’t know I had—and that’s what’s allowed me to keep moving forward.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
For the most part, the public version of me is the real me. What people don’t always see is that my poodle actually runs my life; I’m basically her assistant. Beyond that, I’m intensely loyal to my friends, have a deep sense of integrity, and throw myself passionately into the things I care about. So, if you meet me, you’ll get the real me… just ask my poodle for permission first.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when the work of the day is done, everything is quiet, and I’m just hanging out with my poodle. There’s something about that stillness—no deadlines, no noise, just calm and the little boss of my life sitting next to me—that makes everything feel right.
