Justinah Joseph of Hollywood, CA on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Justinah Joseph. Check out our conversation below.

Justinah, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
First 90 minutes of my day looks like prayer, mediation, intercession, devotion, a lot of silence and proceeding with faith for the day ahead. I love to decree my day over my health, mind, business and intentions.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Justinah Joseph, a nine time editor choice award winning writer and author. New York, Brooklyn raised but I have been in Hollywood for close to 8 years now. I am living on purpose in my purpose and it feels surreal. Jus People Ministries Global Outreach has been launched since April 2020 and since that time, collectively, nationally and globally we have fed over 21,000 displaced humans, and led thousands to Christ through salvation.

What is interesting is that I get to fulfill my calling, while living my dream and both equally are important to God. That makes me smile, that what I once prayed for I am walking and living in.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was always a born writer! I knew since I was 8 years old that I would be a writer! I wanted to write books and turn them into films since I was about 13 years old. I won my first writing award at 18 years old and I have never looked back. By 23 years old I successfully was admitted to my first publishing how where I published my first book, “Purple Rivers.” One thing I am most grateful for is that I never allowed this world to tell me who I was going to be, and no matter the adversity I faced I fought with the power of God for my destiny.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I changed my mind and outlook on failure a long time ago! Because if you are not failing, you are not winning, you are not trying, you are not aiming and failure is part of success. It is truly not about how many times you fail but how many times you got up and kept going. So many of the greats that we read and hear about failed a million times before their big breakthrough. Through my faith and what I believe the Bible teaches me to fall down 7 times but stand up 8. Meaning, even God is aware in this life we will all fall, the key is not to stay down. This is why you have to really believe in the vision that is in your heart because when the hard times come, and they will, especially in business, you have to use the vision as an anchor to your faith.

Most recently, in on of my businesses, my partner and I were experiencing major challenges and a bit of stagnation. One of my wealth coaches, Danielle Godfrey, CEO & Founder of, Born 4 Wealth, gave me a tip and tool that transformed not just my tax mitigation firm but my other businesses as well. It was about altering and changing my subconscious mind surrounding wealth, business and applying that new belief to the word of God. I believe the same is true with what we deem as failure, we have to change our mindset about how we examine failure.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Fads and real foundational shifts has to do with the work you did or did not do. On the surface you can pretend to do the work, whether that be professionally, financially, spiritually or physically with fitness. It is what you do when no one is applauding or looking that will create a true foundational shift. My new book and latest release, “SURRENDER” speaks on this very topic about how the surface of healing does not get to the root of the cause of the matter which needs healing. Anything that is going to shift or move in your life returns a push, and a push requires pressure, and pressure requires a force. A lot of things collapse in life because its about a fad, what is popular, or what is a trend. The reality is, most things that are good for you will not typically be popular. Fads will never last but a shift permeates the surface and just like an ocean there will be depth. www.JustinahJoseph.com for more information on my latest book, “SURRENDER.”

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would have stopped trying and started SURRENDING a long time ago. Don’t get me wrong, I really tried this whole surrendering thing for some time. I have been in therapy on and off since my 20s, Christ came into my life when I was 23 years old, or should I say that s when I gave my life to Him. Because according to the book of Jeremiah, “God knew me before I was formed in my mothers womb. I think the longer I got to understand the true love of God and on this healing journey, like so many are, I realized in my prayers and seeking that I surrendered parts of my pain an past, but did NOT FULLY surrender it all. God wants every single piece of us, the good, bad, ugly and the in-between.
