Pascal, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve been creating delicious, healthy desserts—guilt-free treats! Inspired by my incredible wellness and biohacking mentors, I replace sugar with alternatives that have close to no impact on blood sugar, like lesser-known monk fruit and mesquite, and use the highest-quality ingredients I can find. My creations include raw chocolates and keto cakes, like a vanilla-mesquite-nutmeg version. Of course, I love to share these and enjoy explaining how they’re made and the incredible benefits of such recipes with those who taste them!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Pascal Guyon—music producer, software developer, and investor. I used social media and high-profile connections to launch a global career, composing for artists like Leona Lewis and Anthony Hamilton on multi-platinum albums (15M+ copies sold, 3 Grammy nominations). My passion for problem-solving led me into coding, where I developed software for HyperloopTT and built a blockchain video game for instant monetization—sparking collaborations with Cardano’s research team and unlocking new speaking opportunities. As an investor, I back visionary companies like SpaceX. I also mentor at institutions like the University of Westminster and share insights at global events.
Through my three careers—starting in the music industry, advancing to software development, and now in investments—I’ve evolved by constantly pursuing efficiency and maximizing opportunities. What defines me is an approach rooted in meticulous research to uncover hidden opportunities, paired with unique, creative strategies to exploit them. Hence the name of my company: Edge Hunter.
Today, I’m focused on investments in the tech space. A large part of my day is dedicated to researching global trends to identify innovative projects and companies, with fully functioning proofs of concept that could transform the world. That’s what I am considering investing in because of the asymmetrical opportunity for significant reward versus risk. I also develop software in order to identify and take advantage of opportunities humans can’t handle.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationships with countless mentors have shaped me into an eternal learner, a trait I admire in top performers and deeply embrace. Being around these accomplished, vibrant personalities is incredibly inspiring and the most effective way to strive for excellence. I’m always seeking the next mentor to gain fresh insights from, fueling my drive to do better in my next projects. At the same time, I’m passionate about giving back, drawing on my experience to mentor others globally to support their career development and nurture future talent.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me lessons that success never could—chief among them, that in times of extreme pain, whether mental or physical, I’m more than ever the one responsible for being as granular as possible in my research to resolve the problem. This demands deep introspection and a detective-like mindset, which I now encourage others to embrace through activities that foster self-awareness. I learned this most clearly when coding: whenever a bug arises, the only way to fix it is to break the problem down to its smallest step, isolating the issue in its purest form to pinpoint the error. When mentoring others, I’ve seen that whenever they’re stuck, it’s always due to a lack of granularity in their analysis of the problem.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
As someone often seen as a blunt contrarian, I’ve always trusted my instincts, ignoring the constant rejections from people trying to crush my dreams. I’ve never stopped to prove them wrong! Staying authentic has always been my guiding principle—and absolutely natural for me. Working across various industries has shown me how easily you can spot those who are true to themselves versus those who shift personas to gain approval. Authenticity builds trust, making genuine people far more compelling and trustworthy than those who perform to be liked.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I believe I have a deep understanding of evaluating time and risk against potential rewards, a perspective shaped by my background in investing. It’s human nature to dream about a certain goal but neglect to consider the reality of the time it will take, the potential emotional rollercoaster, the sacrifices it might require, and the potential cost to get there. Early in my career, I spent a monumental amount of time composing music without knowing if it would ever be used by anybody or make money—pouring in hours just for the love of it, with no clear path to reward. After gaining new knowledge from entrepreneurs and investors, I was able to reverse this thinking: nowadays, I never consider any projects if I evaluate that the reward potential isn’t way worth it versus the time spent on it and the potential risk taken.
