Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Reinis.
Hi Meg, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My Journey to The Hive
I’ve always been fascinated by what makes people who they are—their family dynamics, the choices they make, and the hidden stories behind their struggles. My own journey into therapy began as a teenager, when I was struggling with an eating disorder and carrying the weight of unprocessed trauma. At the time, I felt desperate, ashamed, and disconnected from myself.
Therapy became my turning point. For the first time, I felt truly seen which was nourishing and somewhat hard to trust or take in but I also loved it. That connection, along with my natural empathy, inspired me to become a therapist so I could help others find that same sense of belonging within themselves.
I started my career working with teens around body image and substance use, which led me into deeper trauma work. Over the years, I’ve supported people of all ages—survivors of sexual trauma, families in crisis, and students navigating sexual harassment and assaults.. I also learned, both personally and professionally, that trauma isn’t just “in your head.” It lives in the body. Healing my own eating disorder taught me that true recovery required listening to my body, not just analyzing my thoughts.
That realization changed everything. I began studying somatic and “bottom-up” approaches—meditation, yoga, movement, art—and weaving them into my practice. These practices gave my clients (and me) new ways to release pain, find joy, and reconnect with themselves.
But life tested me further. In a short span of time, I lost my brother-in-law to suicide, weathered the pandemic as a single mom, faced a cancer scare, said goodbye to my 16-year-old dog, and watched my parents’ marriage dissolve. I was exhausted and grieving. For the first time, none of my usual tools—therapy, journaling, meditation—felt like enough.
That’s when I turned to plant medicine, and it opened a door. I was able to release layers of grief, reconnect with my center, and receive a vision of what I wanted to create next. Most importantly, I remembered that none of us are meant to heal alone.
As both a therapist and a single mom during the pandemic, I felt the deep ache of isolation—and I heard the same from my clients. We all longed for authentic connection and community. I wanted to create a space where healing felt accessible, welcoming, and communal.
That vision became The Hive Therapy & Wellness Boutique.
At The Hive, we’re more than a therapy practice. We’re a community. We support teens, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism, family dynamics, and relationships. We also offer groups, sound baths, yoga, breathwork, and energy healing. Alongside traditional therapy, I use Brainspotting—a powerful trauma-healing tool that helps release old wounds and reconnect with your highest self.
Our mission is simple: to help individuals heal in ways that ripple out to their families and communities. Healing doesn’t have to be done alone, and it doesn’t always have to be “hard work.” Sometimes, it looks like gathering in community, receiving support, and rediscovering joy.
We offer sliding scale options, serve clients virtually in California, Colorado, and Florida, and see people in person in Los Angeles and Denver.
Because everyone deserves a place to heal—and a hive to belong to.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We are still new in terms of creating healing events for the community. We are finding our sea legs with that although we have loved all of our events so far. We are learning and growing with each one.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Hive Therapy & Wellness Boutique?
The Hive Therapy & Wellness Boutique is more than a therapy practice—it’s a healing community.
We specialize in supporting teens, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, perfectionism, trauma, family dynamics, and relationships. What sets us apart is the way we blend traditional therapy with holistic, body-centered practices. Alongside individual and group therapy, we offer sound baths, yoga, breathwork, women’s groups, and energy healing—all designed to support mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
One of the tools we’re known for is Brainspotting, a powerful trauma-healing modality that helps clients release old wounds, regulate the nervous system, and reconnect with their most authentic selves. We pair this with somatic and community-based practices so that healing feels approachable, supportive, and even joyful.
What makes The Hive unique is our belief that healing isn’t just about talking through problems—it’s about experiencing connection, safety, and embodiment. We’ve created a boutique, welcoming space where clients can receive care that honors both their mind and body, while also having access to a like-minded community.
Brand-wise, we’re most proud of cultivating an atmosphere that feels warm, safe, and authentic. The Hive is designed to feel less like a clinical office and more like a space you want to be in—a space that makes healing feel accessible and inspiring.
We want readers to know that whether you’re looking for individual therapy, a supportive group, or a way to recharge through sound, movement, or energy work, The Hive has offerings for you. We serve clients virtually in California, Colorado, and Florida, and also see clients in person in Los Angeles and Denver.
Our mission is simple: healing for the individual and the collective. When one person heals, they carry that forward into their families, relationships, and communities. That ripple effect is at the heart of what The Hive is all about.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’ve always been a bit of a risk-taker. Solo international travel, skydiving, and pushing my body through challenges have all taught me that stepping into the unknown is where the biggest growth happens. Becoming a mother shifted the way I take risks—not so much physical ones anymore, but the risks of building, investing, and creating.
Today, that looks like investing deeply in my business, The Hive, supporting my team, and making a bold move to Colorado to expand our reach. For me, risk and change go hand in hand—without risk, there’s no real growth. Every leap I’ve taken has brought me closer to living a life that feels aligned and authentic.
And I’m not done yet—stay tuned, there’s more to come.
