Teyana , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something that’s been bringing me joy lately is the intentional act of pouring into myself. I’ve been embracing the power of being a little more selfish—with my time, my energy, and my love. I’m allocating space for my wants, needs, and desires. I’m loving on myself deeper, investing in myself fully, and showing up for me in ways I once reserved for others. It feels good to be in this Teyana-focused era—and even better to know that I deserve every bit of it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Meet Teyana Trendz: The Multifaceted Force Making Her Mark
Teyana Trendz is a powerhouse creative, performer, and community leader whose work is rooted in authenticity, passion, and purpose. Known for her presence in both the ballroom scene and the arts, Teyana brings heart and intention to everything she touches—whether she’s uplifting her community, stepping into the spotlight, or creating space for others to shine.
At the core of her brand is storytelling—through sound, movement, and lived experience. Teyana is currently developing several potential television projects that reflect her bold voice and unique perspective. Musically, she just released the emotionally raw and powerful “T.L. (Traumatized Love) Pt. II” featuring Johnny Tsunami, produced by KorbinYouGottaChill—a track that dives deep into the complexities of healing through heartbreak. Her next single, “Clippin’,” is set to drop soon, giving fans another glimpse into her evolving sound and self-expression.
In this current chapter, Teyana is fully embracing the joy of pouring into herself—prioritizing self-love, growth, and alignment. Her journey is proof that when you honor your truth, magic follows. And with everything she’s building, one thing is clear: Teyana Trendz is just getting started.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Trust.
A wise woman once told me, “If you don’t have anything else, make sure you have your word.” Because without your word—without trust—you really have nothing.
Trust is a fragile thing. It can be simple to gain, yet so incredibly easy to lose. And once it’s broken, it may never return in the same form again.
Recently, I experienced arguably the biggest heartbreak of my life. It shook the foundation of what I believed about love, connection, and emotional safety. And while I’m still navigating the depths of that loss, I’m allowing time, space, and redirection to be the possible catalyst for healing and maybe—even eventually—restoration.
I’ve learned that if bonds are to be mended, it takes more than just hope. It takes patience, understanding, and healthy communication. These are the real tools of restoration—not just in romantic relationships, but in all meaningful connections. Without them, things fall apart. With them, there’s a chance to rebuild, stronger than before.
If you want to hear a melodical form of that experience, listen to my single “T.L. (Traumatized Love) Pt. II”—it’s the sound of vulnerability, reflection, and truth in motion.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how to appreciate the hard times, how to stay grounded, and most importantly—how to never give up.
I’ve been on a long journey seeking greater visibility and expansion—especially around my artistry and brand. As a Black woman of trans experience, I’ve faced more than my fair share of roadblocks. Opportunities that should’ve been within reach are often kept at a distance because of transphobia and bias within the industry.
But what I’ve learned through adversity is resilience. I refuse to let the projections or limitations of others define my worth or derail my vision. Suffering has taught me to value the process, honor my own voice, and recognize that my existence—and my excellence—are already revolutionary.
Success may affirm me, but it’s the struggle that shaped me.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
My faith.
I was raised in a biblical household, surrounded by a God-driven family, and that foundation has never left me. Despite what others may say or feel about my lifestyle, I’ve held tightly to my faith—it’s something I protect and carry with me in everything I do.
I know I’m anointed, and one thing I’ve come to believe deeply is this: “God does not, and will not, play about me.” I move through life guided by faith, not by sight. God is within me, a part of every move I make, every dream I chase, and every door I walk through.
I thank God for what I have, and even for what I don’t. I trust that the universe and God make no mistakes—and that everything meant for me will arrive in divine timing.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If immortality were real, what would you build?
I would build a kingdom—rooted in love, peace, and abundance. A place where my loved ones could thrive, surrounded by beauty, joy, and security.
There would be organic, well-seasoned food made with care and intention, finely crafted garments that honor culture and individuality, and the most soul-stirring music anyone has ever heard. Everything would be top tier—intentional, luxurious, and full of life.
More than anything, I’d make sure my kids, my family, my friends would want for nothing. In this eternal space, they’d be held, whole, and deeply cared for. That’s the legacy I’d build if time had no end.
