Hi Danielle , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
We recently did a event at the restaurant and one at another restaurant, I left my staff to run amiga amore and it was a whole new menu very busy night and they crushed it , beautiful food , lots of energy , and they had worked like a team. Made me very proud to leave them and they handled the event and new menu .
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Danielle duran Zecca and I am the chef and owner of Amiga amore , which is a Mexitalian restaurant in highland park , Los Angeles . Amiga amore is the friendship that turned into love not only betweeen my husband and I but between our two cultures , Mexico and Italy .
It is our love story , and uses Italian techniques with Mexican ingredients, highlighting region of Guadalajara where I am from .
It is how I finally found my voice as a chef when i started to cook the food from my abuela .
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband , he gave me my first chef job before ever seeing me cook , he took a chance on me and he knew I was good and now we run our dream of a restaurant together .
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
It tested me to see how bad I wanted it , also how much I had to believe in myself and take the leap of faith that I would land on my two feet .
