Jaclyn Eve of West LA on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Jaclyn Eve shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Jaclyn , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Who are you learning from right now?
God, always.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hola! Como estas? Me llama es Jaclyn Eve. I am a local LA wardrobe stylist with 13 years of experience and a background in fashion design. As some may describe, I play dress up with models and celebrities for any type of advertising usage. I also have an accessory brand. All products are handmade from sustainable luxury fabrications. @shopjaclyneve on instagram (mostly)

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Well something I actively told myself as a child was, “think outside the box”. Now as an adult, as a business owner, I remind myself to think as if there is no “box”.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I’ve had moments that I’ve wanted to give up, but I know the only way I won’t reach my goals or be successful is if I simply do that; give up. I wasn’t born a quitter and I didn’t move across the country by myself for nothing. When times feel challenging, it’s because something amazing is about to happen for you! There is truth to that statement. Keep going.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The larger the following someone has, the better the talent or quality of work. This is not always true. There’s a lot of hidden gems just needing that one life changing opportunity.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What light inside you have you been dimming?
As a wardrobe stylist and creative director, even though you are the one calling the shots, you’re more so in the background on set, if that makes sense? The focus is obviously on the model or celebrity and maybe at some point, for a moment, I lost myself (a little bit) in that dynamic. To clarify, in my line of work we’re so concentrated on the talent looking perfect from head to toe, I was almost treating myself as an after thought. Which I know is very relatable with other stylists, and costume designers. Since I realized this, I’ve learned to take up more space because I am the main character.
