Good morning Alexis, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
I’ve felt most loved when those around me see my potential and support me with my goals in life. A lot of creatives face imposter syndrome and self doubt, even when there’s a part of them deep down that believes they’re meant to follow their dream. It’s very easy to get caught up with the negative thoughts that swarm your brain. Having a friend support your work, or give you a gift tailored to your passion helps pull you out of self doubt and reignite your confidence. It makes me feel supported as well as loved.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a twenty six year old content creator with a focus on Tiktok and Youtube, however you might recognize me from a few of my viral tweets. My content primarily focuses on fashion and music, specifically in the alternative scene. I’ve been creating content since I was a freshman in high school. Throughout my life, i’ve been trying to find my niche and create content that feels authentic to me. For the longest time, I’ve always thought you had to either be a fashion content creator, a music content creator, or one with a focus on comedy. It wasn’t until I saw content creators such as BestDressed incorporate both fashion and humor. This was a game changer for me and allowed me to explore my interests without feeling like I need to be stuck in a single labeled box. Currently, I try to incorporate humor, fashion and music within my content. For instance, i’ve created videos such as “How One Direction Impacted The Fashion Industry” which was a mixture of two of my favorite interests! For future videos, I am looking to incorporate my love for gaming as well. Ultimately, my goal as a content creator is to entertain, create a community that shares the same interests and values and make people laugh. Whether that’s through music, fashion or gaming content. It’s a bit tricky to figure out a way to incorporate them all in a way that won’t confuse my audience, however, I do believe it’s possible.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Ever since I was a little kid, I realized that one of the best feelings in the world is making others laugh. Growing up, I was extremely shy and my true personality was only shown around my family. I remember putting on skits, writing my own jokes and striving to make others laugh where ever I could. As I grew older and gained more confidence this then extended to friends and even new acquaintances. To this day, whether it’s through content, in person, or even over text, making others laugh not only makes me feel powerful, but reemphasizes who I am as a person.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of being judged has definitely held me back in life whether it’s due to insecurities that stemmed from childhood bullying, or my own negative lens that I view myself with.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely, I pride myself on authenticity. In addition to that, I have this joke that stems from dealing with chronic fatigue and being neurodivergent; I quite literally do not have the energy to fake a version of myself.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I understand what it’s like to feel like you’re being kicked when you’re already down. It’s hard to be creative and hold onto a dream when external factors keep getting in the way. I sympathize with everyone who struggles with having the mental or physical energy to work towards their dream.
