Hi Angel, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
As of late, I have been taping back into my creativity. I love writing, specifically, stories. But just about any form of writing will do. From articles, history, finance, even texts in different languages, I will read it. Recently I attained a library card and I can’t believe how long its been since I’ve been to one. Now, writing on the other hand, is where the real joy materializes. Right now, I’m working on various stories in different media formats. It takes me back to my college days, as a Bachelor of Arts graduate, I realized fairly quickly that this was a great foundation to build on but not something I wanted to pursue as a career. So, for a several years I stopped writing and reading. It always felt like I was missing something in my life during that time. Now that I am back reading and writing, I have more peace, more joy, and more clarity.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Since 2017, I’ve been creating, perfecting, and expanding this one idea I once had. It started with a desire to create more harmony in people’s everyday lives. My first product was just a body butter. I put all my intention into this product to make it as organic and sustainable as possible, all while being effective and handmade. I truly wanted to provide a skincare line that is holistic in nature and specifically tailored to the individual. But it didn’t end there. We grew and continued to expand into an entire ethereal brand. What started with skincare grew to herbal teas, jewelry, and even sustainable clothing and accessories. Now, I want to expand to digital products and content. We have a few digital worksheets designed to track, check in, and plan your wellness journey. Along with a blog to offer more celestial insight, tutorials, and even freebies. We love connecting and uplifting our community and beyond. You can find us always planning an event, as we have not yet secured our physical store but we still find ways to show up and connect. Our journey continues, our mission still the whole reason; to provide luxurious and ancient wellness to modern people.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Every one of us has experienced trauma and had to heal from it. Whether it be ego, reputation, or access, almost all of our trauma has come from another person. Sure, the environment and even ourselves can contribute to that trauma but we learned it from someone else. The connection we have as a human race is strong and transcends over different generations, nations, and religions. In our universe, the only way for strength to be effective is if it is tested. When we experience pain, hurt, or disappointment and we find a way to heal our wounds, we restore our humanity. Our connection strengthens and we advance as a human race. Which I believe is happening everywhere around the world in different stages and paces. That is I created a brand for people to have access to wellness in a holistic way.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
In my life, for as long as I can remember I have dealt with loss. I lost my mother at the young age of four years old. From then, I always had a trauma response to having good things in my life. I feared losing everything in the blink of an eye. I was hyper fixated on not having, then I was on actually having. So, I began a healing journey, and made a vow to myself to be and do better than I did the day before. I practiced having gratitude in the now. I focused on creating harmony in my healing journey and everyday life. Also, releasing the idea that I need to be completely healed to have peace. I am still growing into the person I am to be and with growth comes uncomfortably. Having a healing journey helps me be more protected and wise, while navigating through life with my wounds.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
For my brand, Celestial Beauty Store, I am committed to keeping our core values intact and expanding our reach. It is something I think about, analyze, and create daily. Apart from my hobbies, this brand truly brings me joy. I hope to continue it for as long as I can and eventually pass on this company to my legacy.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
This journey has always been about making younger me proud. If I didn’t make any money or sales from this business, I would still feel whole. Because I put myself out there and held true to my purpose. I don’t need outward validation, but I do appreciate it when I receive it. It helps me know that I’m not alone, but it doesn’t change how hard I work on doing my very best.
