Michael, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Out of all three, integrity is most important to me. In times like these, I’ve noticed more and more people with less integrity. Dishonest, untrustworthy, and completely disrespectful. I care more about a person’s integrity due to those values.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I used to be a professional chef and do private events and catering. My business is called “Hapa Meals” and I specialize in fusion cuisine.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
There have been many different people who taught me about work. Starting off with my parents and seeing how hard my father continues to work day in and day out. Then a Chef at a french restaurant I worked at showed me the importance of customer service, speed, and authenticity. Lastly a friend at a shoe company who elevated on how to view customer service and stepping outside my comfort zone.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have been a few times I wanted to give up due to stress, uncertainty, and anxiety. But something inside me keeps pushing forward.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I am the realest person you’ll meet. I wear my feelings on my sleeve as I’ve been told. I protect those who I love and care about and do not put up with the nonsense a lot of people bring these days.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I was a kind individual who was fair, loyal, caring, and did everything for his daughters
