An Inspired Chat with Nayely Petatan of West Hollywood

We recently had the chance to connect with Nayely Petatan and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Nayely, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
That privacy is the real luxury. My clients (founders, physicians, creatives) don’t want more options; they want fewer, better ones. The feedback I hear most isn’t about a finish, it’s “I can think again.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I design spaces that reduce visual noise with hidden furniture. Visual noise is when your eyes take in too much at once. Hidden furniture is when pieces serve a purpose but then disappear, like a bed folding into the wall so the room feels open again. The goal is to make day to day life feel more intuitive.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I grew up in a world that told me to aim for more. More things, more distractions, more noise. Now, my philosophy is simple: Less stuff, more meaning.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
I used to believe success meant saying yes to everything. I changed my mind when I realized real success is found in what you choose not to carry. Now I measure progress by creating space for what matters.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
An important truth I hold is that less is more. We’re taught to chase progress by piling on, but I’ve found beauty in what’s removed, not in what’s added.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
When you give your best even in silence, the work itself becomes the reward, and you carry the meaning whether anyone notices or not.
