Daily Inspiration: Meet Dominique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Your story:

Dominique was born and spent her formative years in Bethlehem. As a young girl after school she fondly recalls watching her mother and father work in their family jewelry store helping tourist from around the world who visited their family business. As a teenager she moved to Southern California for college and further diamond and gemological studies. After years of saving and planning she opened her own jewelry store in Santa Clarita, that serves the local community as well as visitors from other regions of the world still maintaining some of the contacts from the old world as well as creating many new ones. Dominique had the vision in creating Dominique’s Jewelry nearly 20 years ago in being a destination for anything jewelry related from ring resizing and repairs to custom designed wedding rings, anniversary gifts, or just a simple treat of jewelry for being exceptional. Now her own children ages 7 and 4 often visit the store after school asking questions and interacting with clients as she once did at those ages. She expresses great joy and satisfaction in seeing the once young children of her friends and clients grown and now seeking wedding rings and gifts for their parents.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting and managing a business is more challenging than most people realize. The commitment of time is often closer to double the hours worked by some employees and the financial costs of starting in the jewelry business are quite high. The satisfaction of working with clients, some of whom I consider friends and genuinely great people exceeding their expectations or fixing mistakes created at other businesses, is rewarding like no other occupation.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Sometimes customers meet with just an idea of a wedding ring design that is thought or a photo of a ring from a magazine. Working with them to transform those ideas into a 3D graphic design image, wax replica, and making changes based on budget and preferences is the creative and artistic part of daily work that is very rewarding. It requires a knowledge of the software and sophisticated equipment and continuous refinement of skills. Custom designs of engagement rings, wedding rings, necklaces, bracelets, and jewelry repairs are the primary daily activity and passion.

What are your plans for the future?
After My community Voted me best jewelry store and designer for the past 5 Years, Expanding Dominique’s Jewelry’s line of jewelry items to include an even greater variety of options. This would create even greater savings and value for clients in more categories. It is recognized that other very large designers and more exorbitantly priced primarily because of higher profits and much larger business structure which is unnecessary and non beneficial to most consumers.
