Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamante Bovelli.
Hi Diamante, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My family and I first moved to LA from Boston back in 2009. My parents knew I had a dream to become a professional singer, and like the superheroes they are, they brought me here with the intent to help me realize my dreams. I was only 13 at the time, but that didn’t stop me from knowing what I wanted and taking it very seriously. I began writing and recording original music with producers, finding my sound, and coming to the realization that I was meant to live in the world of rock music after doing my first School of Rock summer program in Hollywood. I found musicians through that program and began playing live shows all over the Sunset Strip, my first show was at the Whisky a Go Go when I was 14. I continued honing my craft and playing shows all over LA, until I went on my first tour opening for Whitesnake when I was 18. At the Beverly Hills show, I was discovered by my first record label and signed. I released my first album with them and continued to tour nationally for years. I am now with a new record label, and am about to release my third studio album.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has had some incredibly challenging moments, but also incredibly rewarding moments. In the 15 years I have been pursuing this career, I feel as if I have lived a million lifetimes. I had to sacrifice a lot of time in my adolescent years. I’ve dealt with much rejection from the music industry. I’ve been dropped by booking agencies, labels, etc. I’ve had to truly prove myself to cement my position as a woman in the world of hard rock music. I’ve had to rebuild my team multiple times, pivot, adapt, grow. I’m very proud of my journey (as difficult as it was at times) because I never strayed from the course. I truly believe everything happens for a reason and that the growing pains were necessary. The ups and downs built the person and artist I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a songwriter, recording artist, and touring artist. I’m known for making alternative rock music that is heavily inspired by 80s glam rock and synth pop. I am most proud of the impact my music has had on my listeners, whether it was helping them through a heartbreak or a hard moment in their lives. My songs are mainly bout vulnerability, empowerment, and resilience.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe you have to be a risk taker in the world of music.
When I parted ways with my first record label, I took the risk of my releasing my second studio album completely independently. It was a huge gamble, being that I had no marketing or radio team like my first album. I believed in the music, believed in my artistry, and as of today, that second album is my most successful.
I continue to take risks every day. My upcoming album is a slight departure sonically from my last two records, and yet I 100% believe in it because it feels right and authentic.
