Rising Stars: Meet Cassidy Trumpour of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassidy Trumpour.

Hi Cassidy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in Toronto, where my passion for the arts was evident from an early age. I began acting and performing in musical theatre as a child, drawn to storytelling and creative expression. At 12, I started traveling to Los Angeles for acting workshops, which deepened my commitment to the craft and introduced me to the heart of the film industry. Eventually, I made the move to LA and pursued a degree in Film Studies at UCLA, where I honed my understanding of both the artistic and technical sides of filmmaking. I currently reside in Los Angeles and work with award-winning producer and director Adam Sigal, continuing to grow and contribute within the industry that has inspired me since childhood.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While the film industry is demanding in its own right, my journey has come with its own set of personal challenges. The outbreak of COVID-19 forced me to put my education on hold for a year, and throughout my time at UCLA, I had to take multiple terms off to return home and work in order to afford tuition. Graduating during the industry-wide strike was another difficult hurdle, as it created uncertainty just as I was trying to launch my career. On top of that, living in Los Angeles on my own has been a rewarding but often lonely experience, testing my independence and emotional strength. Despite these obstacles, each experience has shaped my determination and deepened my commitment to building a lasting career in film.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At the heart of my passion for film is storytelling—I’ve always been drawn to writing, and my ultimate goal is to direct my own feature film. For now, I’m focused on building hands-on experience in the industry, working closely with award-winning director and producer Adam Sigal. Since joining his team, I’ve been fortunate to gain exposure to many facets of production beyond writing and directing, which has significantly broadened my understanding of the filmmaking process. This experience has been invaluable in shaping my perspective as a future director and strengthening the foundation for the creative career I aspire to build.

What are your plans for the future?
My biggest dream is to one day see a feature film I’ve written and directed premiere at a renowned festival like Cannes—and to have the honor of it being recognized with an award. The idea of sharing a deeply personal story on such a prestigious platform, alongside some of the world’s most visionary filmmakers, is what fuels my dedication to this craft. It’s an ambitious goal, but one that keeps me focused, inspired, and constantly striving to grow as a storyteller.
