Daily Inspiration: Meet Elijah Sokolow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Sokolow.

Elijah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got into music as a kid and seemingly haven’t wanted to stop yet. I love playing guitar and producing songs.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Actually making the music has been easier lately because I feel like I’m in a cycle of creating things consistently. Recently, I got jaw surgery. It was a medically necessary surgery and I am really happy I did it but recovering is a long and challenging road. I’ve been able to bounce back and continue making music throughout the process and that has helped so much with my sense of things.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Recently, I’ve been focusing on experimental guitar playing. I’ve always loved playing guitar and over time, I’ve been really inspired by using effects and approaching the instrument in ways that I haven’t before. I’ve been sharing this playing style online and the reception has been really cool to see. I’ve been able to work with some of my favorite artists because they’ve found my playing through the internet and honestly, I’m just really thankful that I live in a time when something like that can happen. I’m most proud of my debut solo album, Soklo, which is coming out April 25th.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people that ask me questions about my guitar playing are interested in the equipment I use but one thing that’s true is I rarely use a variety of pedals and I also rarely use amps.
