Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Arteaga.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It all started as a mistake honestly, prior to all of this, I was a full time Compliance Manager for a very well known alarm company and after 6 years, I was laid off or fired, haha! Well, I was left with no choice but to go full time with this. You can also catch my former boss on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (he isn’t one of the housewives) but if it wasn’t for this hiccup or blessing, I would not have pursued this as much. My good friend, Dj Sloe Poke needed help with an email list and informed that the last Root Down was taking place and needed my help gathering some emails because his friend canceled… and that’s where it started, I was helping book Sonido Sundays and was taken under the wing of Arturo De La Torre (he also gave me my production name fyi). Then, I was also working with Miles Tackett and Carlos Guaico of The Root Down manage social media socials, booking etc.
So, after being around all these great musicians, I wanted to do more so I started managing and booking and that’s where the magic begins…
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth .. oh man. NO, I’m a woman and started in my early 20’s so there was a lot of bullshit, there still is here and there. This is actually one of 4 jobs so juggling all of this has been a big obstacle. However, I will say this, I have the most amazing support around me and that makes it so much easier, Liz Garo, Mitchell Frank (Spaceland), Carl Lofgren (La Cita) and Alex Hernandez (Alexs Bar) opened their doors to me very early on and it has been non stop since then!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Nance Arte Productions – what should we know?
The beauty of self employment is that you get to work with whomever you want to… I book about 6 different artists (roster is full by the way) however, I do a lot of one off events here and there. I have been attending concerts since I was born, my grandfather was a notable guitar player and music was always around my family. LA is so saturated with themes like Selena and conchas… I mean, I love a theme don’t get me wrong but be tasteful kids. Live music means so much to me and I feel the need to expose it a lot more these days since all anyone wants to do nowadays is duplicated events .
Do what you love never be afraid to say no actually never be afraid to say FUCK NO, do the best you can even if the best you can is being a piece of shit then be the best piece of shit you can be.

I guess, it would have to be my mothers cleaning playlist, every Saturday morning was deep cleaning day and boy would she drive me crazy waking me up with La Sonora Dinamita … as I grew older, I would just listen to the songs she would play, so she would go from Brenton Wood to Mike Laure to Leo Dan… she’s the best DJ I know.
