Today we’d like to introduce you to Mere(dith) Ferguson.
Hi Mere(dith), please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi there! My name is <ere(dith)! I live in Santa Monica with my husband and golden retriever.
For the last 10 years, I’ve dedicated my career to brand storytelling through creative strategy, integrated marketing, and channel growth for top brands such as SoulCycle, Playboy, and Starface.
I launched @styledby_dith after turning 30 and suddenly feeling like I had nothing to wear despite my closet full of clothes. After years of frustration, I realized there was a disconnect between my closet and the person I aspired to be in this new decade of life.
After chatting with family and friends, I realized these challenges were not unique to me; many of the women in my life shared similar experiences.
These conversations inspired me to design a styling program for women feeling discouraged by their current wardrobe. Whether you’re not sure what to wear to first dates, weddings, or work, or you feel like your closet no longer reflects your identity, I am here to help define your style and curate the looks that make you feel your best.
I believe that getting dressed is a form of wellness and when you feel good in what you wear, you have the power to change your state of mind, your confidence, and your day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It will always be a bit scary to start something new or go out on your own, but I think getting started was the hardest part. Otherwise, I would have done this so much sooner!
Once I got over that fear, launching @styledby_dith was something that felt very natural to me. I’ve always loved shopping and fashion. I am always receiving messages or FaceTimes from friends asking for help with their outfits or being asked by random strangers where items that I’m wearing are from.
Another challenge for me has been content creation. While I’ve worked in marketing & brand strategy for a long time, I’ve never been the person in front of the camera or editing video content so there’s a bit of a learning curve. I know not every video is going to land, but I am getting so much positive feedback from my community so I’m energized to keep growing, even if its gradual!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I recently launched my own personal styling business targeting women feeling discouraged by their current wardrobe or who have recently shifted into a new stage of life causing their clothing to no longer match their identity.
I specialize in building completely customized lookbooks for my clients that include a reimagined style moodboard with an accurate reflection of their style as well as curated head-to-toe outfits with shoppable links based on each client’s personal needs. Usually we select categories based on each client’s lifestyle that they are getting dressed for day to day. That could be anything from outfits for events, date night looks, or office attire. My goal is to always create a lookbook that a client can utilize beyond our work together as a tool for them to refer back to when they need inspiration or just a reminder on what makes them feel good.
I received a text from a client yesterday who told me, “It really has felt game changing to feel so much better about my clothes and how I feel in them. And my life’s so much easier that I can call you to support with all the major events. So thank you! 1 million times over.” Style and fashion are deeply personal and I think the fact that I recognized that and created a styling program centered around helping you feel more connected to yourself and your identity is what sets me apart.
I know how powerful defining your style and transitioning your closet can be. I also understand how frustrating it is to have a closet full of clothes you hate, but I am here to help whether its providing inspiration or style tips via my social accounts (@styledby_dith) or connecting with me personally on your wardrobe. I hope to have a positive impact on your style in the way that’s right for you.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like least about LA is the traffic. Of course.
What I like most is how encouraged I am to be outside all the time. I am constantly walking around my neighborhood, sitting outside for coffee dates with friends, going on beach walks with my husband and dog, organizing a spontaneous weekday hike, etc. The weather contributes a lot to making the SoCal lifestyle truly unbeatable!
