Today we’d like to introduce you to Robby Witt.
Hi Robby, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I never set out to be a content creator, but I’ve always loved writing and telling stories. At the end of 2022 I decided I should try and tell my stories on TikTok. These fictional “60 Second Sitcoms” started getting some attention on TikTok and thats when I started to take it seriously. For all of 2023 I made 3 videos every single day! Over a thousand videos that year. Most of them are terrible, but sometimes public failure teaches the best lessons. And those lessons have helped me craft some viral videos that resonate well with my audience. Its all been really fun and has motivated me to step into other spaces as well, namely stand up comedy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Content creation can be humbling. I’ve had weeks where it feels like everything I post is a hit and I’m the man. That feeling fades when you bomb for 3 weeks straight! The challenge is coming back from that. Its like a scavenger hunt trying to find the next great story.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a storyteller. If I land on your doom-scrolling session you can hear me talking about outrageous situations in my “60 second sitcoms”. Most of my popular stories have a revenge tilt. Taxidermy Grandma is a story of mine where an old woman dies and has her body Taxidermied. Taxidermy Grandma’s daughter then places her in the front yard as revenge on the HOA for stealing her taxidermied dog from her front garden because it violated community policy. People who don’t like arbitrary HOA rules resonated with that video and it turned into a ten part TikTok series. Most of my work plays off of similiar almost universally detested things in society (bad bosses, bad spouses, etc). These stories dance the line between believable and fantasy. I’ve had comments tell me stories are TOO unbelievable, and I’ve had journalists unironically post articles about my stories as if they are genuinely real. Its a fun tightrope to walk between the believable and the outrageous.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Originality. Theres lots of stories you can listen to online. You may not like all of mine (or any of mine) but my goal is to have you laughing about a story that you’ve never heard before.
