Hi Kwey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sure, so I started in the world of content creation back in 2014. When I got into it, it was more so to pass the time and entertain myself while I was studying college.
I would post comedy skits to a platform called “Vine”. My intention wasn’t to go viral or even build a following but I wanted to go back and watch my videos and laugh when I had the free time.
One of my videos ended up going viral and being posted on pages like Worldstar, also had numerous celebrities post me including Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, and Drake even saying my infamous “BoyIfYouDon’tGet” phrase at the 2017 Billboard awards.
After that, everything changed. I was able to host various events, a festival, appearances, and release exclusive merchandise.
Now, I’m able to leverage that viral moment into starting my own YouTube Channel, Kwey B, Streaming on Twitch, and Music.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was definitely not a smooth road. I learned pretty quick that going viral doesn’t always mean longevity.
We live in microwave and instant gratification society, with social media, something could be hot right now and then next week or even few days people will be on to the next thing.
I’m grateful to have created something that’s evergreen. Something that’s not just a viral hit but something that people say on a daily basis even to this day.
And with that is just being consistent even when you feel like your material isn’t catching on.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a full time content creator, YouTuber, and Streamer. I specialize in Entertainment. I’m known being the “Meme Guy” with the funny facial expressions. I’m proud of my resilience. What sets me apart is my adaptability, I was able to take a viral hit and make relevant in ever era of the internet.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m definitely a guy that doesn’t speak about my goals until it’s accomplished but in the near future we could expect collaborations with Major brands, world wide touring, diving more into acting, modeling, and scaling my YouTube and Streaming business.
