Conversations with Cara Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cara Rose.

Hi Cara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up around tattooing and tattooed women specifically, I always knew it was something I wanted to do, but honestly thought I would end up working in fashion. I’ve always been very creative, but really didn’t start taking my art serious until 2019 after working a booth at Hell City. I became obsessed to say the least lol. It’s crazy to think there wasn’t much online at that time, but I watched every YouTube video, interview, and tattoo documentary I could find and that’s where my tattoo journey really began.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not. I was moved around a lot growing up, so I was never in a school long enough to take and finish an art class. Like I mentioned previously, being creative always felt so natural to me where as drawing did not.
I think we all as artists experience a little self-doubt here and there or being nervous to make a mistake on something that’s so permanent, but learning to trust yourself and your own style is so crucial.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a tattoo artist that specializes in fine line and ornamental tattoos. I think my style is a good blend of soft, feminine, and a lil rebellious lol. Designing a tattoo for someone, whether it’s a fun spontaneous piece or a meaningful one is an honor and something I take seriously. Tattooing can be very healing or do the opposite. I’ve experienced both sides of it myself, so every session I try my best to be as present as possible and give a fun, comforting experience.
I’m most proud of the personal growth I’ve had through tattooing and how I’ve built a community to where I’m always surrounded by people and other artists who inspire me and always push me to be the best version of myself

Any big plans?
I’m really looking forward to reconnecting with some art forms I’ve drifted away from and to start kind of merging those with my tattoo art. Tattooing has changed so much in the short amount of time I’ve been in the industry and it’s really inspiring

I joined the Le Papillon team at Studio Sashiko moving back to LA this past year and I’m really excited to keep learning, growing, and to push myself out of my comfort zone more than ever this year
