Meet Duan Dempsey of D2neXt LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Duan Dempsey.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My passion for technology started early back in 3rd grade, when I “broke” the classroom Macintosh while the other kids were out at recess. That curiosity led me to come in early before school to learn how to install applications and explore how computers worked. From then on, nearly every job I held had a tech component.

While working at Georgia-Pacific, I launched a small IT side hustle, fixing machines and doing web design. One day, riding the elevator at work with my laptop in hand, someone from a different company asked if I could help with a quick tech issue. That spontaneous ask turned into a part-time gig, and over the years, I ended up completely redesigning that company’s IT infrastructure while still holding down my corporate role.

By the end of 2014, I made the move to Los Angeles and decided it was time to go all in. I pitched the same client who’d worked with me for six years on investing in a bigger vision: a full-service organization offering the same high-touch IT support and design services I’d provided, but now for small and mid-sized businesses across the board. I wanted to build a firm where employees could grow into leadership roles, and clients would always receive white-glove service.

A few months after that conversation, D2neXt LLC was born.

Over the last ten years, D2neXt has evolved into much more than just IT and web design. We partner with clients to create tailored solutions that help everyday people accomplish everyday goals—through technology, business strategy, education, home design, and more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Sheesh! Was it hard? Absolutely. The road was full of obstacles. One of my first missteps was not asking for enough funding, support, and guidance. I underestimated what it would take and jumped in full speed, investing in office space, servers, hardware – everything I thought I needed to “look” the part. In hindsight, I should have started lean and grown gradually. But every mistake taught me something valuable.

Another lesson? Profit doesn’t come overnight. It took years for D2neXt to gain real traction. I was still holding down a corporate job long after pouring my heart into the business. That kind of journey requires patience and a deep trust in your vision.

What truly matters is believing in yourself, surrounding yourself with wise counsel, and staying committed through the highs and lows. The setbacks? They shape you. They strengthen your team. They refine your mission. Every fall, every lesson, builds something greater if you’re willing to grow through it.

Embrace the journey. Embrace the mistakes. That’s where the real foundation is built.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
D2neXt is a full-service IT Support and Infrastructure Design firm that works with small and mid-sized businesses across the U.S. We set out to help everyday businesses thrive by offering smart, tailored technology solutions that actually make a difference. We specialize in IT support, infrastructure design, web development, and business strategy—but more than that, we serve as long-term partners to our clients.

What sets us apart is our relationship-driven approach. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every business has its own challenges, and we take the time to really understand those needs before jumping into any project. Whether it’s building a secure, scalable IT infrastructure or helping a business bring its online presence to life, we bring the same level of care, attention, and integrity to every engagement.

What I’m most proud of brand-wise, is the trust we’ve built. Our clients know that when they call, we show up. Not just to solve a problem, but to be part of their growth journey. Over the years, D2neXt has grown far beyond just fixing systems or designing websites. We’ve become a strategic partner, a sounding board, and sometimes even an extension of our clients’ own teams.

For your readers, I want them to know that D2neXt isn’t just another tech firm. We’re about people just as much as we are about technology. If you’re a business looking for real solutions, meaningful support, and a partner who’s genuinely invested in your success—we’re here for you.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was definitely on the quiet and shy side. I didn’t have a big circle of friends because fitting in wasn’t always easy for me. But music gave me a voice. My parents got me into it early, and I ended up playing both the trumpet and French horn. I wasn’t just playing—I was killing it lol. I became 1st chair in both concert band and symphonic orchestra, and that gave me a real sense of confidence and discipline in that area.

School itself wasn’t my favorite place, but I was determined to find a way out that worked for me. Thanks to the help of my sister’s guidance counselor, I was able to take night and summer classes and graduate early, skipping an entire year of high school. It’s something I’m proud of, especially because my own guidance counselor told me it wasn’t possible. Crossing that stage became a defining moment for me. Ever since, if someone tells me I can’t do something, that becomes my motivation to make it happen. Maybe it’s the Virgo in me, who knows, but I’m fueled by a challenge.

Outside of work and accomplishments, I’m a big family person. I talk to my parents every single day and have a close relationship with my whole family. Around them, I’m probably one of the funniest people you’ll ever meet. If I feel safe around you, that goofy, fun side definitely comes out. I love working out, traveling, and I’m a huge dog lover – I’ve got three! (Though, I’ll be honest -cats? Not so much. I’m a little scared of them!)
