Today we’d like to introduce you to Colton Tran.
Colton, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a film director & editor based in Los Angles. I decided to make the move from Utah to LA 13 years ago with my producing partner Laura Young and never looked back. That move was crucial for my growth as a filmmaker and creative in this industry. I’ve now lived in LA for over a decade working as a professional director, actor, producer and editor.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Define smooth. haha It has been smooth in regards having consistent work, but the journey has been bumpy at times. Bumpy isn’t a bad thing either. One initial struggle is finding your place in a new town, it was interesting navigating that world. Every person has their own journey and mine has been something to write home about for sure. I’ve created so many beautiful friendships and memories that I wouldn’t change for the world.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m the Co-owner of Colton Tran Films with my producing partner. We created our production company over 15 years ago and have produced many films/projects under our company. I mainly focus on directing and producing stories that we want to tell. Most of them are in the Horror/Dark Fantasy genre. I’m so proud of all of our films and how they’ve pushed us to grow each and every time we make a film. We are always searching for the next film to produce, so don’t be afraid to reach out if you have something that fits within our dark world or storytelling. Currently in pre-production for my latest film SKETCH, alongside the creator of Final Destination Jeffrey Reddick & Lance Bass as producers.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
As a creative i’m always looking for other artistic outlets, so I started to make art out of broken vinyl records. It’s called TransylVinyl. I create and sell custom commissioned pieces online and on my IG @TransylVinyl. Most of my art pieces are in the world of Horror & Pop culture.
