Conversations with Drai$

Today we’d like to introduce you to Drai$

Hi Drai$, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started out freestyling with friends for fun. And one day someone told me I had a talent I should not ignore, and I decided to start writing down song ideas on paper. That led to me starting a daily routine of practicing lyrics and song writing. And it seems like right after that I recorded my first few songs and released them on soundcloud. People started showing love and complimenting the music so I started taking it serious and started performing and promoting my craft.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it has not been a smooth road at all. It all started from me struggling financially to fights with family and losing the girl I thought I was going to marry, to a life changing chain of events that led me to having to move away from my hometown again. And through all that turmoil and negativity, it actually led to me changing my life and daily habits for my own self improvement. With that being said, I guess it just shows how sometimes your hardest times can actually be preparing you for the person you are truly meant to be

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an artist and I song write, perform and produce music. I am mostly known for my lyrics and having my own vibe in my music. I’ve always had a talent with expressing myself through words and I decided to use it to create what I want to say. I’ve always loved music, and I mean a lot of genres not just hip-hop. I just obviously grew up more around rap and it became my favorite. I’m honestly most proud of how I’ve been able to overcome all the problems and lack of support and really found my craft as an artist and made something out of it. I truly hope it inspires more people to take that chance and make a change in their life.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Most important lesson I’ve learned is that you need to look out for you and your future. I’ve had everyone from super close family to homies and girlfriends switch up on me and forget about me like im nothing. And in times when I really needed just love and support. That showed me no one is going to save you and sometimes it hurts but you have to be selfish and help yourself first.
