Meet Gavin McDaniel of Supercar Connection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gavin McDaniel

Hi Gavin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My partner Joe and I met while playing football together at Azusa Pacific University. We quickly became friends through our mutual love of cars, real estate and business. Fast forward to life after school, we would meet up for dinner and always ended up talking all night about cars, what was new, what we wanted, how we were going to be able to afford them, all of it. Then during the summer of 2023 we had the grand idea of recording it and uploading it to the internet. To many we were starting a podcast in an overly saturated market, but for me it was the podcast that I wished existed but could never find. So we released our first episode of Supercar Connection in September of 2023. At the time I had an Alfa Romeo 4C and Joe had a C8 Corvette. After gaining some traction with a few viral clips we started gaining some interest of guests wanting to come on, we then spent all 2024 sitting down with people across the spectrum of the supercar world and getting heavily involved in the Southern California car scene. It was surpassing all of our expectations, the cars we were getting the opportunity to drive and the people we were getting the opportunity to meet. That really brings us to today where we continue to field guest to bring onto the show and do our best to make engaging viral content to grow the brand. I’m in an Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Joe in a Lamborghini Aventador S. We are really just at the beginning of this whole thing and its very exciting.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
You know, in a lot of ways its been a smooth road, its gone as good as I could ever hoped for. But at the end of the day it is a ton of work and that is the biggest struggle. While a podcast is a low barrier to entry and why so many people start one, in order to really market and scale you have to create a ton of clips for social media. I edit all of the short form content myself while juggling a full time day job. It can be tough to come home tired and sit down and edit videos but thats the only way to grow, and to do it consistently for 18 months now has been a grind! But at the end of the day I am doing what I love and getting to do things I always dreamed of so it always feels rewarding.

Apart from the editing, we run a mobile podcast so setting up and tearing down in different locations every week really adds up along with ensuring everything is on and running smoothly. Thankfully we have experienced minimal hiccups but you have to be on your A game all the time. Scheduling guest and having last minute cancelations or reschedules and dealing with those challenges after coordinating with a location and our team members.

The hardest part is flipping off the work switch when we get to do really awesome things. It can be hard to sit back and enjoy what we’ve built at times when you are so focused on coordinating this or that, or making sure everything is getting set up or torn down. At the end of the day it is work when you show up, no matter how cool or glamorous a day may be. I don’t get to just show up record and leave, so much goes into all of it and I carry a lot of responsibility around to make sure the final product is something I can be proud of!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I just left the corporate world working in tech as a Business Analyst to pursue Supercar Connection in a greater capacity. My wife started a digital marketing agency a few years ago and I will be joining her to help scale it further. We specialize in social media management for business and personal branding. My wife is a photographer, designer, and brand strategist and I am the viral content creator so together we make a great team.

My partner Joe owns the largest collision shop in Hollywood, ICS Autobody. They have been in business for decades and he fixes anything from Toyota Corollas to $800,000 Aventador SVJ Roadsters.

Definitely keep an eye out for what is to come, we have big plans for leveraging the SCC brand for automotive related businesses. We are very excited about the things we are working on and I can’t wait for them to come to fruition! For now you will have to follow along and see how it unfolds.
