Meet Ana Torres of Organica Juice Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Torres

Hi Ana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Ana, my journey in business began in 2016 as a need for my health. I had a health crisis, I was diagnosed with early stages of cancer and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, a hormone disorder. My body was falling apart and felt hopeless. Fortunately, I worked in local community college and decided to learn and research for alternative medicine. I wanted to take charge of my health and heal my body. Unknowingly, I was eating the wrong foods. I learned my body couldn’t have gluten, dairy, or processed foods because it was making my health conditioned worse. I was born in Mexico and grew up eating Mexican food which consists of fried foods, sugars, vegetable oils, and dairy. I didn’t know any better and I had to learn what foods were healthy for my body to began my healing journey. It was a lifestyle change that not only transform my life, but also took my career to a new direction. Juicing was common in our home growing up. We always had fresh fruit and fresh juice. However, in healing my body, I incorporated juicing therapies and superfood smoothies that were not only nourishing my body but also healing my health conditions. I mainly focused on Organic and quality whole foods. My body slowly began healing and my body stabilize through my juicing therapies I then realized that organic quality juice bars did not exist in my community and I had to drive 45 min to find organic juices and food. I felt there was a scarcity of organic foods in low-income communities, thus I created Organica with the purpose of making organic quality foods accessible and affordable.

The extensive body of literature, studies in peer-reviewed journals, and books have document that individuals who adopt a healthy lifestyle and make dietary changes (which consists of a juicing program and organic foods) can dramatically restore their health. The processed fast food chain industry and poor quality diet has been the root problem of the nation’s increased rates of obesity, diseases such as heart disease, cancer and arthritis. Hence, the scarcity of organic fresh quality foods is a real problem for most communities. Organica provides a solution to that problem. Since we want the best for our customer’s health, we focus only on organic and fresh products. Why organic? Organic products are the best quality for our health because organic crops are grown with natural fertilizers and controlled using natural methods that have more nutritional benefit. The conventional-grown counterparts are grown using synthetic pesticides, GMOs, and petroleum-based fertilizer which contain harmful effects to our health.

My goal is to share what has helped me in my healing journey with others, make a difference in my community, and make organic quality foods accessible.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been easy. I first opened my first store-front location in Beverly Hills, CA.
I had to closed down when Covid happened because I couldn’t sustain my business financially.
It was hard closing down my first store but I knew it was not the end of my dream and passion.
I also lost my father during Covid and it was the biggest loss of my life. I needed time to recover emotionally, spiritually, and financially.
I decided to open Organica again, this time in Montebello. The city I lived in and grew up. It has been very special and rewarding to offer my services in my community and help my neighbors with their health.

We’ve been impressed with Organica Juice Bar, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I created Organica Juice Bar from scratch based on my healing journey and what has helped me restored my health. It is my passion and lifestyle, not just a business.
We specialize in Organic fresh juices, superfood smoothies and bowls, wellness shots, salads, healthy snacks, and juice detox cleanses. We are the first organic juice bar in the city and surrounding areas. We make fresh almond milk from scratch to provide the best food products and avoid preservatives, additives, added sugars, and toxic ingredients.
We also focus on a positive mindset and wellness education. In addition to providing organic high quality food products, we also empower our customers to take charge of their health.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The best part of the city is the people, is a friendly community. It’s a harmonious community and everyone is kind to each other.
What I like the least is that there’s not good quality options for food. There’s a high amount of fast food.
