Meet 2 Padres of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to 2 Padres

Hi 2 Padres , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
2 Padres, pronounced ‘Dos Padres’ (@dospadresofficial) is more of an idea than an actual thing you can touch…
We are an online space that encourages creativity, comedy, music and fatherhood. To us, a dad is more than just a father figure, it’s a state of mind, and sometimes, one dad just isn’t enough. The group is led by Brent Lydic (@brentlydic) and Bill Posley (@billposley) and super producer Marc Solomon (@HeySolo). Brent and Bill met on the set of SYFY Original movie ‘Flu Bird Horror’ (Flu Birds) back in 2007 while filming in Romania. They had an instant connection and their friendship blossomed into the flower that it is today. They started collaborating immediately, forming the Second City improv group ASAP, with a talented group of others, they performed sketch comedy all around the LA area. They officially started making music in 2014 with their first single ‘Tickle Me Bro’. Inspired by other comedic groups like The Lonely Island, Lil Dicky and Tenacious D, their chemistry was undeniable and started working on their first full album ‘Grown Up Babies’ soon after. After a brief hiatus from making music they returned in 2024 writing two original songs for the award winning Apple TV series Shrinking w/ Harrison Ford and Jason Segel. They are currently recording their follow up album “We’re Too Old For This Shit” and gearing up for live shows this summer of ’25.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Making music has always been the easy part, but of course life always has a few curve balls to throw your way. Finding the time in between working full time jobs has made consistency tough. Bill has gone on to become a successful full time TV writer working on great shows like The Neighborhood, Cobra Kai, and currently as an EP on Season 3 of Shrinking for Apple TV. While Brent became an actual father and wrote and directed his first feature film Spirit Quest, a buddy comedy that was sold to Gravitas Ventures and is available on all streaming platforms. The third member of the group Marc Solomon, which none of the music would be possible without, has a very busy and successful producing career working with Lil Yachty and Rich The Kid, to name a few, and most recently creating the score for Vanished, a documentary that will be released on Apple later this year.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
If there is one thing we want to convey to our audience it’s that you are never too old to be silly. Comedy has the unique ability to break down barriers and combined with music we feel like we can bring more joy to the world. We recorded our last two singles (Cheater B***h and Give Us The Precious) for the hit Emmy nominated show Shrinking on Apple TV. We were thrilled that our music was able to be apart of such a brilliant show. Both songs were written specifically for the show and incorporated into the storylines. Harrison Ford even sang the chorus of our song in one of the episodes in Season 2! With the recent momentum, we really want to start performing live and create an entire comedy show incorporating our songs and hopefully continue to build an audience and make people laugh.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Collaboration. Brent, Bill and Marc have been working together for over a decade and it really shows during the creative process. Having a short hand while working together really allows them to tap into something special as they continue to make music. Also, with the goal being to make people laugh, it really takes the pressure off just making good songs and lets the guys make each other laugh while they are writing and recording. Hopefully their audience will feel that too.
