Today we’d like to introduce you to Myles Durr
Hi Myles, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am prior military and served in the Coast Guard for five years. When I was getting out of the Coast Guard in 2020 I was unsure what my next move was going to be. I had a friend of mine that told me about TikTok and said I should check it out and starting posting content on there. I was not sure what to do at the moment because most of the stuff I was seeing was dancing and I wasn’t going to do that. I then came across the sports content and saw a video where someone was making a lineup with an NBA filter. I was like, I can do this and I started doing that type of content where I made lineups. It was getting some views, but not much, then I did one where my dad did a lineup and I got like 45K views and thought I was the man and figured it out. Not quite, after I posted that someone in the comments said I should do a video with me and my dad in the vid. That’s when a light bulb went off in my head and I knew I had something. So, in July of 2021, I set up my phone at my best friend’s bachelor party and had another friend do a liineup with me where we are both in the video together. It took me over 2 hours to edit and post, but I posted it at midnight and by 8 am the next day I had 80K views. At the time it was my most viewed video and I knew I had something and that was the birth of the versus. After that day, I recorded versus videos everyday, I would go out and find random people to go against I felt that is what made my videos interesting is you never know what you will get from the random people I approach. I would go to football tailgates and other sporting events where I knew people would be and recored as much content as possible. I would also go to universities in the DMV area and walk the capital where there were always people. I then began traveling and going to different cities to get videos and that’s when I knew I was growing a solidified base within the sports world. I then moved to Seattle, then to LA where I now have resided for about 8 months and focused on growing my brand and continuing to build my base while also exploring the world of acting and modeling.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would not say its never a smooth road because I don’t know everyone’s journey, but for me it definitely has not been a smooth road. I had many set backs along the way having to evict tenants to not knowing what the next move was. While also dealing with the mental battles when it comes to views and engagement. There are always things that will get in the way or distract you from your vision or goals, but you have to ignore that and push forward with what you do. The journey will be a long one, I talk to so many people that have been on their journey’s for some years now like 10-20 years and having only been about 4 years in now shows me I have a long way to go and that it is just about not giving up.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
After I graduated college I served 5 years as an officer in the Coast Guard, after that I began doing social media and stayed consistent with that making sure to record and post multiple times per day everyday. I am proud of my discipline and determination which I have learned through sports and my time in the military. I feel that my personality and energy is what sets me apart from other people in this field. I feel each person has a gift and purpose in life and I feel one of mine is sharing my energy and spreading positivity to others. I am known for doing the NBA and NFL versus on social media and I love what I do and I enjoy being able to share it with the world.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
You can’t control what others do or say, you have to stay focused on your journey and realize that consistency and discipline will always win just one day at a time.
