Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Robertson
Hi Sharon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was fortunate enough to start working in a field I love, straight out of college. Working with an architecture firm, and eventually transitioning to interior design firms, and finally, starting my own firm.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible creatives and clients who have placed their trust in my abilities. The journey has certainly been challenging. I often find myself juggling work hours and responsibilities as a mom, along with battling imposter syndrome; there are always struggles and issues to address.
Adding to this complexity is the daily care required for my medically complex child, which has taken my multitasking skills to a whole new level. I am continuously thankful for remote digital apps, cloud software, and the extra effort that all my sales representatives put into accommodating my around-the-clock requests.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in creating warm and inviting interiors. Our focus is on minimalist elements that allow the architecture and personal stories of each home to shine. This approach does not result in cold or sterile environments. Instead, we intentionally incorporate textures, natural materials, and elements that develop a patina over time, allowing them to tell their own story.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Resilience has been crucial in my life. In addition to running my own firm in Southern California, I am also a working mother. I have to juggle my family’s needs with the schedules and deadlines of contractors and tradesmen. Sometimes, schedules need to be adjusted at the last minute, which can lead to a full day that may not have started ideally. The key to balancing these responsibilities is getting to know your clients before signing with them. It’s important to ensure that both parties are respectful of each other’s lives and needs, especially since construction delays and delivery rescheduling are frequent occurrences.
