Rising Stars: Meet Dylan Garcia of La Quinta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Garcia

Hi Dylan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This music journey began in a dorm room at UC IRVINE and an acoustic guitar after getting dumped lol. I wanted to write sad songs and my good friend helped me, who was in my favorite band, pick out a great a Takamini Acoustic/Electric Guitar.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The music business is very difficult to navigate without guidance. I’ve always had the learn as I go attitude. Sometimes we take L’s, but they’re usually the best lessons to learn from. There’s no secret sauce.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I like to describe my music as a funk and Neo Soul vibe. I’m really testing the waters on how good I truly can become as a Songwriter And Recording Artist. My most proudest moment in music was when a fan who didn’t speak English, sent me a video of themselves singing Open Roads.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I’m really feeling the book by David Goggins, “Can’t Hurt Me.” I’m always trying to test my capacity.
