Today we’d like to introduce you to Sintia Megerdichian
Hi Sintia , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my freelance journey back in 2020 when the pandemic hit. I was a salon stylist located in Beverly Hills, I did cuts color extensions and styling. When everything closed down I wanted to use that opportunity to grow my social media and show case more of my work. I wanted to show case my styling work more then anything else. A few of my good friends were already in the industry doing makeup and hair for celebrities and content creators, I asked if they can connect me with a few people and from there it became a dominal effect. I worked with one influencer then she recommended me to different brands such as fashion nova, naked wardrobe, shein , and pretty little thing. Every time I worked on set with a model I was referred again to another. It changed my life in so many ways that I didn’t have to go back and work behind the chair everyday and long days. I started my freelance work which introduced me to a world of talented people. I am forever grateful to the people who believed in me and always referred me to others. After a while I wanted to include the salon into my schedule, I like to do all services. I am now a freelance and in salon stylist.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It defenitely was not easy and smooth, there were times were I would have to do work for free just to meet creators or get my name out there. Sleepless nights and early mornings, trying to be the best I can be for not only my clients but creators around me. This job is not only about talent but the energy you bring with it. It has been a struggle especially being your own boss there are months where you are slow and times where there is no room to breath. I’ve had to learn how to cope with it all
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sintia_la?
It was truly rewarding working for big campaigns like Patrick Ta or working on celebrities. I know that I am not done and want more for my career, not only with clientele but my plan is to eventually come out with my own product line or hair line. Focusing on extensions. I love haircuts and extension installs, the transformation is killer. What sets me apart from most hairstylists l, I think is my ability to style editorial hair and to be able to cut and do extensions. Most of the time your stylist will specialize in one or two things, I like that I have a variety of options for service. I never stop educating myself on being better there is so much to learn everyday. I am most proud of being able to meet some incredible clients that have trusted my work and included me in Oscars, Vanity fair, Grammys makes me tear up knowing my work hit the red carpet.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes, never get comfortable and think things will stay this way. I learned to save my money and have a direct relationship with my clients that way if anything happens they are able to reach out to me whenever.
