Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Mcnamara
Lauren, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am from Vancouver, Canada and started my acting career when I was nine years old. My first role was a Coldwell Banker commercial and ever since then I’ve loved being on set. I started out doing commercials then went into TV and movies. When I graduated high school I realized that acting is what I want to do for my career, I don’t see myself doing anything else. I got accepted into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and moved to LA to study acting.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Growing up I struggled with anxiety and as I learn and grow I have learned to control it. I use to see it as a bad thing but when I look back I realize that it has helped me become who I am today. It taught me to be strong and to never give up no matter how scary the circumstances seem to be.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have been in a few Hallmark movies and a Universal movie called “Aliens Ate My Homework”. I have made lifelong friends who I still talk to today. Being on set is when I am the happiest and it feels like it’s where I’m suppose to be. One of my favourite projects was a short film call “Alma’s Pond” and I filmed in Big Bear and it was so beautiful. My first movie I was in is called “A Sisters Nightmare” and I was so nervous to be in front of the camera but once I started to act I had the best time and thats when I realized that I wanted to be an actor.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see myself going back and forth from Vancouver and LA for acting. I would love to do a movie where I get to travel, that’s one of my dream jobs, to get to act and travel. Thinking about the future is sometimes scary for me because I really don’t know what is going to happen but I do believe I will be somewhere on set acting.
