Hidden Gems: Meet Jeremy Asgari of OUTSIDERS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Asgari.

Jeremy Asgari

Hi Jeremy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started OUTSIDERs out of a purely personal need to find a social environment that was fun, active, and not solely based on consumption. I was tired of always sitting at a bar or eating at a restaurant to be social.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never a smooth road, the biggest reason is because you come into a new project without all the knowledge and experience you’ll need to make it smooth and it’s the mistakes and struggles that help you learn.

I have learned a tremendous amount since I launched OUTSIDERS. I learned how to better manage people, market a product, develop a brand, expand partnerships etc. I’m still learning about these topics daily.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Outsiders started as a New York-based social club and has now expanded to Los Angeles, Chicago and internationally to London, England and Stockholm, Sweden. Our mission is to bring people together, foster a sense of community, and develop meaningful connections through shared outdoor experiences. We work hard to keep these adventures affordable and accessible to allow more people to join us and experience the outdoors.

The Outsiders are made up of social butterflies, urban explorers, music lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, thrill seekers, creatives, foodies — in essence we are urbanites looking for our next adventure with like-minded people.

Whats sets us apart from other companies is that our mission is to provide a social environment that is active and outdoors while also making it diverse and inclusive. We’re rebranding the outdoors and doing so with our brand partners support.

I’m most proud of the connections we’ve made with strangers who are now great friends and have developed their community through us.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Covid-19 reconfirmed the need we all have for community, nature and the outdoors. It was a great exercise in finding creative problem-solving solutions. We were able to restart our outings during the pandemic thanks to a partnership with Volvo since it wasn’t safe to use buses.
