Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Kim.
Brian, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After graduating with a degree in kinesiology as a pre-physical therapy major, I initially planned to apply for my doctorate and attend physical therapy school. However, while training a few 5th graders from my old church, a parent noticed my talent and passion for teaching basketball. He encouraged me to take it a step further, get a business license, and start a business.
My business grew organically through word of mouth, and I attracted more students each year. By the fifth year, I had over 80 clients, built three travel teams, employed four coaches, and was set to host my first major camp with an NBA player’s name attached. During those first five years, I built valuable relationships within the NBA community. My first opportunity came through basketball trainer Alex Bazzell, where I got to participate in Trae Young’s pre-draft workouts. From there, I continued to network, build relationships, and refine my craft as a basketball skills development coach.
My business was thriving until the pandemic halted everything. Afterward, I moved in and out of Los Angeles, exploring different business ventures. When I returned in 2022, I refocused on rebuilding my business. Since then, I have worked with high-level clients and have been steadily rebuilding my business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey wasn’t always smooth. The pandemic shut down all my business efforts, forcing me to start over from scratch.

A basketball skill development company focuses on helping players improve their technical and physical abilities in the sport.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is ending each day knowing I’m living up to my full potential, fulfilling the purpose I was created for by serving others. Helping as many people as possible with the natural gifts and talents I was born with brings me joy because it means I’m living in alignment with my purpose and doing my best to make a positive impact.
