Daily Inspiration: Meet Cedric Adams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cedric Adams

Hi Cedric, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a professional video game animator, cosplayer, and up-and-coming influencer. I moved to Los Angeles early 2019 to work in-house for a studio I contributed to remotely. working in the Games Industry as my primary work. I have been fortunate enough to find consistent work as a lead and senior animator to this day.

My life was shaken up for the better during fall of 2021 when Riot and Fortiche released as animated adaptation of their video game title, League of Legends. At that moment, I started my career as a cosplayer, making my very first costume and cosplaying the character Ekko, from Arcane. Since my cosplay debut in March of 2022, I have steadily amassed a social media following, worked numerous event as Riot’s official Ekko cosplayer, and have had continued success in my creative ventures.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road amongst the recent successes. I’ve spent many years facing underpay in correlation to my peers, bouts of loneliness, financial distress due to the cost of living and economic state of our country. Despite that, I have continued to persevere.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in 3D animation, cosplay creation, modeling, directing, music production, and art. That’s quite a bit so I tend to summarize myself as an artist to keep it simple.

Currently, I am most know for my cosplay and costume of Ekko from League of Legends and Arcane and that is generally what I am most proud of. What sets me apart from others is really down to determinism and genetic luck. Being a creator at heart, I’ve practiced having a healthy but critical amount of scrutiny in my work and I’ve trained my attention for detail. Those two aspects helped me create the cosplay that skyrocketed the craft from a hobby to a career. People tell me I look similar to Ekko naturally as well so I should also thank my parents… Or maybe the character designers.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
All great successes have a bit of risk involved but I have learned that there is a healthy balance to them. Being the ambitious creator that I am, I’ve taken huge financial risks in pursuit of quality and lofty ideas. My biggest risk has been creating music and I fell into some pitfalls that shifted how I had to live, simply from the cost and pressure put on me as an artist. Amongst those decisions, I still find myself a risk-taker. If I could give my younger self any advice, I would say to never weigh a risk greater than your ability to live comfortably. Life is short. Don’t bet so big that you’re left in distress.
