What fear has held you back the most in your life?

Fear is something we all carry, though it shows up differently for each of us. It can keep us safe, but it can also hold us back from opportunities, relationships, and growth. We asked some brilliant members of the community to share the one fear that has shaped their choices the most—and their answers reveal just how universal, yet deeply personal, our struggles with fear really are.

The biggest fear that holds me back are the struggles I face every day with being autistic, specifically sensory sensitivity and not being able to understand things the way that neurotypical people do. Read more>>

The fear of not being good enough. I believed that what I do in music is connected to my identity. So if I sing a wrong note, write a bad song, or mess up a production it will show how bad of a person I am. That I’m not good enough and deserve nothing. Sorry if that went a bit dark there. The fear that’s held me back the most is the fear of failure. It’s simple, but it shows up in so many ways, like worrying if my work is good enough, hesitating to try something new, or overthinking decisions.
