Rising Stars: Meet Melissa Lozada

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Lozada.

Hi Melissa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Since the age of 16, I grew a passion to want to help others with their health and fitness struggles. Obesity, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and other diseases run like wildfire in my family. I wanted to be the change and do better for myself and my future. Fast forward to the age of 36, I realized that working in an office was not my thing. I was encouraged by so many at my local gym to become certified as a personal trainer so I can start training at their facility. I was flattered that people wanted to learn from me and it opened up my passions once again. I became certified and three months later, I was able to leave my 9-5 administrative assistant job to train full time. I was finally doing what I loved! Then, another obstacle happened! At the age of 41, I had to relocate from NEW York to California due to my husband’s job in the music business. Although I was thirsty for change and willing to make my entrepreneurship work, I fell weary. Depression took over. Covid hit and I had to start over again after working so hard for what I wanted. Then fast forward to now… I started up my personal training business here in California. I’m training online with some of my same clientele from NY, and I’m blessed to have a few great clients I can train at their homes. I also partnered with an amazing Health & Wellness company that allows me to help others with their health and fitness needs/struggles. I’m changing lives one day at a time and I’m blessed to do so.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest struggle was getting my family to acclimate. I have three teenage daughters. My oldest is 19 and my twins are 18. My worry was that they wouldn’t like California and resent us for moving them across country. But at the same time, I was eager to show them that change can be good. The biggest challenge for me personally was picking myself up from where I left off. I thought I had it all together until my family finally acclimated and I didn’t. I didn’t have my family or friends around me. It was hard. I felt alone and so sad even though I was surrounded with so much beauty.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an entrepreneur, I’m growing my own personal training online business and working on branding myself as Little Mrz Fit and I’m currently on the booksy app where my clients can book sessions and leave reviews about their personal training experiences with me. I’m working on a website as well. I also do social retail marketing with an amazing company called Modere. I’m currently working to create my own team. My goal is to lead a group of like-minded people who are passionate about helping others become the best versions of themselves through exercise and clean effective innovative products.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I’ve always had a real powerful feeling that my business will flourish someday, and in the past I would allow that to stop me. I was afraid of feeling overwhelmed. Now I see it as confirmation! If the one thing in life you want doesn’t scare you, then it’s not big enough right!? I see myself owning my own private gym that offers not only fitness but all kinds of health and wellness programs. I believe fitness starts with mindset and I want to provide all the tools a person needs to get themselves inspired and motivated to be the best they can be!
