Today we’d like to introduce you to Tania Cassill.
Tania, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My background is fashion and retail. I spent the first half of my life in the fashion industry. After having children, I reevaluated my life and realized that I have always been obsessed with Interior Design. I decided to go back to school and study Interior Design and I’ve never looked back. I found that Interior Design is very similar to fashion it’s just a different medium.
I started my Interior Design business in 2004. In 2014, I decided to open a storefront filled with all of my favorite things.
Huit is the perfect marriage of my prior life in fashion and retail to my current life of Interior Design. The shop reflects my passions and is the perfect example of my aesthetic. It gives my customers a glimpse into my travels and my Interior Design style.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Although I have never looked back at my decision to open huit, I soon realized that the Interior Design business and the retail store are both full-time jobs. My biggest challenge is finding time for me. I tend to go all in on projects and travel for the store and inspiration. At the end of the day, I am literally falling into bed.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Huit – what should we know?
Huit the shop is known for one of a kind pieces and a well-curated finds. The shop is a direct reflection of my Interior Design aesthetic – organic, modern California casual. When customers and clients come in the shop, they are able to find items that are not available in other stores in Orange County. I work very hard to keep the inventory fresh and current.
My goal is for customers and clients to be inspired by huit, enjoy the space and want to stay awhile.

Believing in myself and sheer determination.
