Meet Sadie Adams of Take Care in Venice Beach (& West Village)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadie Adams.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My first “facial” was in New Mexico when I was studying with Dr. Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute in 1998.

Marma points, facial diagnostics, ayurvedic self-care, and the study of the elements provided the foundation for Take Care as a center for body-mind regeneration. After a long deep dive into Wisdom Fire Inner-Work Tantra and developmental anatomy at the School for Body-Mind Centering®, I turned toward esthetics as an educator in regenerative technologies.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Without funding, I started a holistic beauty business in NYC at a time when the majority of its residents didn’t mind that they wore the stress of environmental toxins, long work hours and extreme lifestyle choices on their faces. I have been driving a conversation about health and self-care in the beauty space for 15 years. Los Angeles has more of a trend in this direction than NYC did at the beginning, and I will continue to contribute to the momentum, merging health, and wellness with esthetics.

I feel I have been extremely blessed with vision and the support of amazing clients and friends along this extremely bumpy road. (Shortly after signing my first storefront lease, I broke my arm. Two years later, I was in a car accident.) I love owning my own, and on a shoestring, it has been an incredibly adventurous learning experience.

Take Care – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Take Care is a collective of practitioners offering meditation, movement, energy work, craniosacral therapy and esthetic treatments, including hair and specializing in microcurrent facials.

Our mission is to educate and inspire our communities into a conversation about holistic beauty, health, longevity, and balanced living.

Our flagship storefront is on Waverly Place in NYC, and we just opened on Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice.

Take Care clients include A-list celebrities, super models, influencers, photographers, artist, philanthropists and designers.

We have been serving NYC and the Hamptons for 13 years and have facilitated a community meditation circle in Venice, ongoing every Monday night for five years. We feel that conscious relating, sensitivity, and presence are essential in the process of transformation and development.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
We have rejoiced plenty over the many years – from realizing construction to design of the various brick and mortar locations to our community of clients and practitioners supporting one another through milestones – personal and public – being praised and celebrated for contributions, craft, and art.
