Oak, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My work is a culmination of my spiritual journey which began over ten years ago when an unexplained heart condition prompted me to consider my own mortality. The reality of having to contemplate death as a young person in their early 20’s was hard. Though it caused me to look closely at all aspects of my lifestyle, diet and habits to find a healthy version of myself. During this journey, I began to understand the healing aspects of astrology and pairing it with nutrition. Wanting to avoid taking heart medication, I took it upon myself to heal naturally. I first started studying various forms of yoga, meditation and energy work.
Soon after, I was studying minerals, divination, magic, massage, herbalism and food as medicine. All of the exploration into different healing modalities have contributed to restoring my heart health, which took a few years and a lot of trial and error to understand. I would say that herbalism, food as medicine & astrology have been the most helpful tools. Because of this ‘issue’ that I was presented with at a young age, it has paved the way for my work with astrology.
Has it been a smooth road?
The path of healing is pretty much doing and being accountable for your own inner work, it never ends. Sometimes, it can be hard to constantly be in a state of inner inquiry, but what develops is the language and experience to be able to help others. I’m here for it all, bless.
Please tell us about Oak Astrology School and Star Cream.
I’m a professional astrologer and have a background as a holistic chef, I have carved my own little niche of blending food and astrology. For my astrology practice, my private consultations focus on guidance, clarity, alignment, healing and most importantly helping folks access their highest potential. In 2019, I launched an online astrology school that focuses on quality birth chart analysis. The course covers all the bases a student would need to learn proper astro and gears them toward the professional level.
The way I use astrology also extends to food and the curation of events. I host astrology themed mini-ice-cream-sandwich-parties called STAR CREAM. I love that astrology is immensely personal in the same way that food is immensely personal. And there are definitely astrological correlations between plants, the planets and food. I’m super excited to share astrology with others in a way that is fun, cute and magical. Star Cream is an expression of the way I choose to cultivate an astro lifestyle based around healing, alignment and beauty. I create menus of ice cream sandwiches and teas that are customized to my client’s birth chart and also create altars for the table settings. Using my background in herbalism and medical astrology, these recipes stimulate vitality and are a fun way to receive a soul-nourishing reading and also learn about how to eat based on your natal chart. It’s really an entire vibe and a culmination of my studies and work with earth magic.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I know so many people who don’t even really ‘mess’ with astrology, but they have The Pattern. With the sudden exponential growth of astrology, people are learning about astrology without even knowing it. Astrology is so lit up right now and I am thrilled about all the folks that are arriving at their truth with this amazing tool. In so few words, astrology is a profound framework that organizes the divine order of the cosmos. This framework can be applied to anything – Sorting your personality, life, health & soul story, developing a business, understanding the flow of time. As astrology becomes more accessible, the ways in which it can be used will begin to expand, the possibilities are endless. Anything that deals with people, compatibility and cycles of time can benefit from utilizing astrological principles (which is literally anyone, any business, any industry). Currently, the primary way that astrology is being ‘consumed’ is through counseling/coaching that is focused toward self-realization and I can see how other branches of astrology like financial and medical astrology will become more popularized.
