Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Cardoza.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Michael. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
From a Marine Corps Veteran, to an IT Systems Engr and then becoming a Fire Fighter, After all these experiences, I still held onto the fact that I’ve always wanted to start my own my business.
After establishing my IT career for close to 10 years, I decided now is the time that I can afford to take the risks. After all, if it didn’t work out I had my career to fall back onto.
So, I sold my car and used some of that money as a startup to begin my Glass business. Now why Glass you ask , Well I researched over the years different businesses that intrigue me and I learned thru studying Marcus Lemonis strategy that in the end it’s really about People, Process, Product.
I knew I was good with People and from the Process side of things from my past career experiences, So now it came down to picking a Product. I chose Glass because it is a product no matter what area you live in or what your building most of the time you’re going to need glass.
So Pacific Glass Concepts ( PGC ) was born. I bought a small beat up truck some sheets of glass and I youtube and google how to fix broken glass in windows. I would fix the glass for homes near my area that were in need of some glass repairs to gain more hands on experience.
From there, I was able to hire someone with more experience in the glass industry to measure and install for glass showers. I took notes asked questions and eventually learned what to look for during this process and how to measure and order the glass for fabrication.
Afterwards, customers and general contractors recognized our service and quality of work and they started requesting if we can also do glass railings as well. So we started offering glass railings as part of our services. It was our quality workmanship and service to our customers that took us to the next level.
Working with some great builders like Jeremy Mathiason of Summit West and Matt Chernega from Nexus MetalWerkx and networking with other trades gave us the opportunities to grow as well as opened doors to new clientele in our local areas.
I can’t thank these guys enough in helping me grow my business and the advice given to me along the way, We have not only become good friends we have become family thru this journey.
Because of this we now get the opportunities to work on some amazing homes for Million Dollar Listing LA the TV show and get to create some amazing custom glass work., And have our work showcased on TV.
It has been a blessing to have these opportunities and when they come you have to execute quality workmanship and service to your customers.
And for that I have to give the biggest thanks to my Lead Installer Armando Recinos, He leads the efforts in making sure the designs I work on with my clients are measured and installed properly.
Has it been a smooth road?
The beginning of any journey can be hard and stressful and you can start to doubt yourself, Did I make the right decision? What was I thinking, I never even measured anything in my life or even picked up a tool before. But that is why its a journey and you will regret it more
if you didn’t try. I knew I did not want to live with those famous words ( what if ) .
Yes, there is plenty of that in the beginning but you have to fight thru your doubts and stay focused. Run thru your plan stay on course follow thru your process and you will get thru it.
Mistakes will happen there inevitable, Its what you take away from it, learn from it grow from it and you will become better for it.
Hardest challenge we face in our business is when the customer wants to also be the GC and Project manager. These scenarios never turn out good for any sub on the site.
This is where I believe going the extra mile to educate your client in the process on what happens if they do it there way versus the standard procedure. For example delays they can cause around the project with other trades.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Pacific Glass Concepts, Inc – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We developed an interactive online shower design and request form for our customers, So they can receive a quicker response on there Frameless Showers.
Pacific Glass Concepts ( PGC ) Our focus to our customers is QSD ( Quality Service and Delivery ). At an affordable price.
At Pacific Glass Concepts we strive to build and maintain a strong, consistent, reputation of quality and service with our clientele.
I am most proud of the way we have grown and challenged ourselves with some of these projects that we would have never dreamed of having the opportunity to work on.
What sets us apart, I would say The Quality of Workmanship and customer services we provide. Our turn around times have made us well known in the community. Our installers are passionate about there work and the detail behind it.
I’ve also created on our website PacificGlassConcepts.com where you can design and request a quote of the shower layout you’re looking for. This saves the customer time in waiting to make an appointment to get a quote and they can play with different layouts and see the design interact live to help them make a choice on glass and hardware finish.
Once they decided on a design they can proceed with the quote request button in red and choose a layout with there glass choice and hardware finish. It automatically delivers your request thru our app and we can get started on processing the estimate for you.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Like best I would say we get to work in the best weather and with some of the most beautiful ocean views.
Least I would say Parking for work at a job site it is always a challenge.
