Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Hibbert, Beauty Expert and Brand Consultant.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Melissa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My love of beauty began as a teenager and once I realized my passion for it, I enrolled in Beauty School while in High School. After graduating from both, I entered college, where beauty followed me – student by day, beauty professional on evenings and weekends from the small beauty lounge in my dorm. I kept beauty close to my heart while deciding to move to New York after college where I embarked upon a 14 years corporate marketing career working for some of the biggest brands in the world. One of the biggest challenges for during that time was my ability to pivot into beauty as a corporate professional.
I badly wanted to express myself creatively and professional in the beauty industry, so I decided it was time to leave corporate America and embark upon beauty fulltime. It was the best decision for me at that time! Since 2012, I have been able to realize my dream in as a Beauty expert, I’ve worked with the best tv networks, productions companies, brands and of course the people, who I have the pleasure of making them look and feel their best everyday. I have truly been able to do what I love in business of beauty. Now, I have been able to combine all of my professional experience and passion for beauty to create a growing business as a Beauty Brand Consultant. It’s the perfect trajectory!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has had its bumps along the way, but I have learned to roll with it. You often know you’re on a journey when obstacles show up – that’s life. I have chosen to take the good and bad, the triumphs and the trials to become more of who I am meant to be. I learn more about myself through struggles, I get to see what I am made of along the way. After-all, the struggles do not last and wisdom has taught me the value of perseverance.

As a Strategic Beauty Consultant, I provide Beauty, Skincare and Lifestyles brands with research, analysis, solutions and inclusive recommendations for innovation and best-in-class product development. Whether from concept to launch or expanding current product line, I collaborate with brands bringing my extensive business acumen and vast Beauty & Skincare expertise to help brands create impeccable products that meet brand strategy and consumer targets.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very outgoing, smart, curious and ambitious. I always wanted to know be in the know and mingle in places and spaces that would allow me to grow or learn something new. I have always been quite mature for my age and it’s something that I embraced as a young woman. I was also athletic, I played tennis, volleyball and basketball. I enjoyed team sports and the discipline required to be a top athlete. But it was the first tube of red lipstick that I took from my Mom’s purse that changed my life as a teenager. Looking back, it all makes sense to me now, how life has a way of revealing to you purpose and passion, even when you’re too young to understand or articulate the feeling.
