Today we’d like to introduce you to Jürgen Kramlofsky.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In January 2018, I was honored to be invited to the LA Film Conducting Intensive Workshop where I met Angel Velez. He created this course for film composers to have the possibility to improve on their conducting skills.
Within that same trip, I had the opportunity to meet one of Hollywood’s finest studio musicians, Sheridon Stokes, through a mutual friend. I asked Sheridon if he would be interested in playing a flute concerto, designed specifically for him, he replied, “Sure, but make it challenging.”
Over the next few months, we began planning an event dedicated to music featuring the flute. The first act contains brand new compositions and the second act showcases some of Hollywood’s greatest themes.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Like any production, we have our ups and downs. The biggest challenge was definitely coordinating an entire concert in LA from my home in the Black Forest in Germany – where I composed and arranged all of these pieces.
Luckily, we had the internet and all of those fine services that come with it, so communication and exchanging ideas wasn’t that difficult after all. Still, there is no match for being in the same room with a person when it comes to being creative.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a film composer and have been working extensively in Germany for television and movies for the past 20 years. I’m proud of my capability to be able to write in various different styles and really fit the music to the scene or project.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Meeting Sheridon was definitely one of the luckiest moments in my life and has opened up so many doors along the way. I’ve learned that the talent and skillset has to be there, but meeting the right people at the right time can absolutely put you on the map.
Every opportunity has the possibility to turn into something great – so it’s important to take those as they come.
