Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Cerino IV.
Dominic, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was always surrounded by art and design when I was younger and I excelled in my art and design classes. I was fascinated how furniture, textures, lighting, colors, finishes, art and materials all play an important role in conceptually making the interior space feel like a home, but more importantly, the interior space should reflect the client’s personality and character. I studied interior design in Los Angeles while gaining valuable work experience at interior design firms that specialize in high-end residential design.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I moved to Los Angeles with many goals in mind, however, my main goal was to finish my degree in interior design from an accredited University and gain valuable work experience in the interior design field. Los Angeles is one of the very few places in the country that offer the contemporary, modern lifestyle in homes that are architecturally unique to southern California. I didn’t know anyone when I first moved here. I first started bartending and working on film sets as a set designer. After a year of residency, I was able to attend a California college. I studied the Interior Design program at Santa Monica College and transferred to California StateUniversity Northridge where I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Interior Design. Throughout the duration of my education, I was working at high-end residential firms to gain the experience I wanted to become a well rounded, experienced and educated interior designer.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dominic Cerino Design – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am very proud of my unique style. I like to incorporate a contemporary, modern aesthetic while maintaining a warm, zen interior with a touch of glam. I try to keep the materials to a minimum throughout the space, have colors be represented through artwork and have some unique, accent furniture pieces represent textures from nature or have them be organically shaped in comparison to the streamline of the rest of the furniture throughout the home and architecture.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Well, the Virgo in me always plans ahead, but life has taught me that plans may not always go as you have planned them. I am currently working on a new hobby – custom art pieces I have designed. I hope these pieces will be showcased in galleries and client’s homes in the near future. I am always trying to grow my design business and brand myself as a designer that create timeless, contemporary interiors with an inviting and serene Zen feel. I’m looking forward to a bright and successful future in the design and art world where I can make clients happy in their interior space.
