Meet Diana Zalucky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Zalucky.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a commercial advertising photographer and director, host of The Healer Dealer Podcast, and a Certified Advanced Akashic Records Practitioner.

I am originally from St.Thomas, USVI, where I first fell in love with photography in high school. I knew at age 15 what I wanted to do. I studied photography at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, where I spent the majority of my time wishing I was already working. I hustled hard while assisting photographers in Miami from all over the world. Then at 21, I was the youngest and first female to ever be hired as an in-house advertising photographer for Disney. I spent the next eight years working with some of the most talented creatives in our industry. I was traveling around the world nonstop, shooting everything under the sun—from hanging out of helicopters to get the perfect shot to photographing countless celebrities in their most intimate moments. As wonderful as that experience was, I was ready to take the leap to go out on my own because I craved the freedom to design my own life. By 2012, I started my own business, which propelled me to move to Los Angeles in 2014. I always knew I wanted to live on the West Coast. And I still love it here as much as I did when I first daydreamed about living here a decade ago.

Since moving to Los Angeles, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide range of amazing clients around the world, and many even enjoy shooting their campaigns in our beautiful city! During my free time, I attend as many magical, inner-work gatherings I can get my hands on. I am a big believer that inner growth creates positive change in all I do, especially my creative work where art and commerce collide. Ever since I was young, I knew I was an empath and intuitive, and it’s a gift that has helped me countless times as a professional, especially when I’m on-set and need to navigate and care for my crew and clients. But I didn’t always lean into this side of me, as I didn’t embrace myself as a healer due to an outdated belief that I was only allowed to do one thing at a time. That any attention I gave to this side of myself would dilute my photography career. But now I know that’s not the case.

I love connecting people, and I believe I have a secret power of knowing what people need and who they need to connect with. While meditating, I received a message that I was meant to start a podcast focused on conversations with the modern healers and visionaries of our time. For three years, I ignored the message. This summer, the message’s whisper became a scream, so I finally headed the challenge to make it happen! This led me to my podcast, which I love making. I love all my guests, and I enjoy showing the audience my authentic self. The way I speak on the podcast and the enthusiasm I exude is the same energy I bring on set during photography shoots. Simply put, it’s the way I live my life. I believe one of my life missions is to express enthusiasm through my senses. Life lights me up, and I want it to light you up too!

Earlier this year, I had Elite Certified Akashic Records Teacher, and Practitioner Helen Vonderheide on the podcast, and we did an Akashic reading during the interview to show my listeners what the experience is like. During the interview, I received a message that told me I was to work in the Akasha. A few weeks later, Helen was hosting an Akashic Practitioner Certification Class. I attended and was immediately hooked. I loved how working in the Akashic Records gave me structure with my own abilities. I was a natural at it, and I immediately received a clear message that the Akashic Records would be a supportive force for all the things in my life. I took all five certification classes this year, and I am now a Certified Advanced Akashic Records Practitioner. I love helping clients to connect with their Masters, Teachers and Loved Ones. I also love providing tools for my clients to empower themselves and bring awareness to their lives.

While my work as a photographer and director will continue to be a large part of my life, I know I have so many gifts to share with the world. Now, through my healing work, my deep desire to connect people and have an impact on the world feels like its being fulfilled in different ways I never previously thought was possible. What makes my work unique is my unbridled enthusiasm, my relationship to the beauty in the world and all the people around me, and my ability and openness to go deep where many may get scared. I offer presence and genuine love to everyone I meet.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not smooth at all! I do hard things all of the time. Whenever anyone is about to up-level, the change that is involved with that is always met with our own resistance in the most challenging situations. It’s not about being happy and positive in those moments—it’s about knowing that all those moments are all happening for your highest and best good. Messy action will always feel like a struggle but that is what you have to do when you make a decision: take action. I always feel more confident after taking action on something no matter how small. Those small, consistent actions build momentum. Whenever I am in a moment of feeling like things are not going so smooth, I ask myself if this struggle is happening from one of two places: a place that will force me to make a decision that will require me to pivot in my life, or a place that will cause growing pains to ultimately get to something I desire. Always trust that the universe is conspiring in your favor.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Diana Zalucky Photography – what should we know?
My business is Diana Zalucky Photography. My sense of intimate, fresh, and cinematic visual storytelling has given me the opportunity to shoot for a wide range of amazing clients, from lifestyle and travel to food and automotive. My infectious energy and passion while on-set brings out the best in people, resulting in honest imagery filled with spirit and enthusiasm. This same magic extends into The Healer Dealer Podcast and my work as a Certified Advanced Akashic Records Practitioner.

How do you, personally, define success? What’s your criteria, the markers you’re looking out for, etc?
Success is freedom, freedom to do the things that bring me pleasure. It’s freedom to work with people I adore working with and freedom to say no. Success means I own my time, creative freedom, financial freedom, and freedom to design my own life on my own terms.

What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
I am SO excited for the launch of my new photography website, and I’m also looking forward to shooting upcoming projects for brands that make beautiful things while also having a positive impact on the environment. I am looking forward to sharing new podcast episodes and expanding that platform. And, of course, I always look forward to surfing, cuddling with my two magical cats, and enjoying the abundance of opportunity and experiences in LA with all the people I love!
