Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Lra.
Carla, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my photography as a hobby. One day, I just remember telling my mom that I didn’t had the money for the rent. I will never forget she was a little disappointed because I was the only one helping her with all the house expenses back then, not that I didn’t care, but I really wanted to have a camera and I’m sure the rent could wait for my next pay check, those were my thoughts a few years ago, then next thing you know, I bought my camera, I start shooting my friends kids, families and little by little I start getting calls of how much they love my work and if I could do their family portraits.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve been so very blessed, it’s been a pretty smooth road. It all started with friends and kept going as a chain, friends, family friends, friends of friends and then just random people that would see my work online. I still remember my first wedding, I will always be grateful to the Ayala Couple for letting capture the best day of their lives. I was a little insecure, nervous and all the feelings that you could imagine were running thru my body for doing my first wedding, I think what was holding me back for so long, it was fear and self-doubt. I think it’s really common for artists and photographers to compare themselves and judge their own work. Even though I’m human and I still sometimes struggle with self-doubt, I’ve come a long way to where I am now.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Carla Lara Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Carla Lara Photography specialize on Wedding and Portrait Photography but I pretty much love capturing everything, I have photographed many Latin Artist like Ana Barbara, Pepe Aguilar, Flor Silvestre, Lupillo Rivera, Poncho Lizarraga, Luis Coronel, Enrique Bunbury etc..
I’m known for capturing natural & authentic moments and connections specially on my wedding , it is a little different when it comes to portraits we focused on posed photos with everyone looking at the camera. We pretty much accommodate to the client’s needs. I’m well known to have a lot of patience with kids and newborns, or even weddings when sometimes there is chaos, I have the ability to calm everyone down … I think I have that on me lol.
What I am most proud of, as a company, is the passion I have when it comes to take the most memorable moments on my clients lives but mainly is the fact that I’ve been able to do what I Love, enjoy for many years, bring me a sense of pride and joy, if you love what you do then do what you love.
Apart from others I will say hard worker, kindness, and empathy are some things I try to maintain in my life and I’d like to I think that has helped me to be different and continue to be part of my clients lives.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
To stay humble and become better every day, pretty soon we will be offering drone pictures from the sky, I think that’s a big plan for the future, I’m still trying to master the “Drone. ”
