Today we’d like to introduce you to Bas Tamiet.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Bas. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a child, I began modeling, even had my own billboard in Israel and that career ended before I was five. I started modeling professionally as an adult in 2014. I then began to explore photography. I fell in love with both fields. At the start, I had been blogging about Fashion and landed a short contract with Steve Madden. It was then I knew I had something working for me, I just needed to refine it. In my process of developing my identity and building my brand, I was asked to showpieces and open for a Fashion Show in Kansas City. My EXPOSURE collection was a six piece capsule collection that embodied the edginess and rawness I absorbed growing up in New York and had to share with the midwest. This was my first time challenging myself to create with red, a color I couldn’t wear growing up. The show helped me finalize my CLEAN VERSION project, which developed into three mediums; art, fashion, and music. HONNETEBAS.com/ online is the platform that allows for stories to be told in its purest form. We inspire through three major channels and every piece has become a bi-product of the past project. As an artist and businesswoman, I have been able to be mindful and conscious of making effective moves for the work being produced. Such as creating capsule collections for each project and consistently providing high-grade imagery. I believe these details set us apart.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?Cynically, I always say embrace the process.
I loved my time in the midwest but leaving Kansas City was imperative for me, and yet returning to New York seemed redundant at the time. It had only been three years since I had left NY, and though I wasn’t too eager to return, I felt like it would be best for the development of the business. Two weeks before my One-way ticket back to NYC, I got my offer letter from American Apparel and they were going to relocate me to Los Angeles. All of my plans shifted, and I kept rolling with the punches. Los Angeles and getting adjusted is another story…
The journey will never look exactly how you figure and “downfalls” happen. Those setbacks are to be absorbed as learning experiences. It hasn’t a smooth road. (change to ) ” I hasn’t been a smooth road. Some of the struggles come from the inconsistency of living. I travel throughout the year, between NYC, KC, and LA. The travel is amazing but the stability that comes with staying in one space isn’t an advantage point for me. I feel connected to all cities and find it important to be present in all three.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family deserves a sea of credit, they’ve all played different roles that have both challenged and uplifted me. My sister is young and hip, she’s become more involved with the brand and is truly insightful. My mum loves my art, she buys merchandise frequently and is always emotionally there for me. My father is tough and he reminds me to hold my ground and hold my own. He’s a businessman himself, we always have a lot to discuss.
My mentor growing up was Orly Wahba she has been an imperative part of my upbringing. She taught me the ways of recognizing my light and becoming a better person every day.
Steve and Marsh Lucero are the gallery owners of The Artery. They have invested themselves in my creative process and allowed me to shine. I’ve created some of my best work in their space and celebrated the success in their presence.
There are people who are extensions of me and the brand. They live all over the country and are part of my lifeline. People like: Gia, Helen, Sam, Jacob, Liv, Claire, Mussad, Chris, Nicholas, Char, and Lanie… are supporters and advocates for the brand.
