Meet Austin Santiago of School Night in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Santiago.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Austin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have worked in music for 15 years. My experience includes national talent buyer & marketing manager at both a music venue & music festival, over a decade of independent event and band management experience, three years as the general manager of media property Do206, and now I lead the charge as general manager of legendary music discovery brand School Night.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My journey has went up, down, left, and right. I never knew exactly what I wanted professionally but I know I love being around music and helping talented humans create moments. I’ve been fired, I’ve been broke, I have been broken up with. I think the hardest part is pushing through the tough times but if you can put your head down and stay focused, the sun will shine again.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Celebrating our 10th year, School Night is the most respected live new music series in the country. We’ve helped break acts such as Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Odesza, Miguel, & many more. Our intimate weekly showcase at Bardot in Hollywood has grown exponentially while still maintaining an intimate community vibe.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
School Night was founded by Chris Douridas and Matt Goldman back in 2010. Under their leadership, the night has grown into a legendary stop on the meteoric ride of many of today’s biggest artists. The team over the years has been a rotating cast of super dedicated characters but it currently consists of Sharyn Goldyn (Director of Events), Ryan Chollet (Production/Advancing), Jesse Martinez(Social Media Manager), Lisa Voronina(Design/Newsletter), Chris McClure(business development), William Reed(DJ Booker), Ana Karotkaya (Photographer) and the staff of Bardot including their fearless leader Mark Jablonski.
