Established in 1965, Sarkis Der Sarkissian began building the foundation of the Hollywood-based real estate company that bears his name over 50 years ago, thus realizing a lifelong dream of owning his own business. The firm has been located along Hollywood’s famous Sunset Boulevard since its inception.
The full-service corporation handles virtually all types of real estate transactions, including residential and commercial sales, leasing, management and development.
Ara joined his father in 2001 after a 14 year career as a Vice President at Wells Fargo. First as an agent and then 2 years later as a Broker/Manager of the office.
In its early days and for over 40 years, Sarkis Realty was located in a small house at 6612 Sunset Blvd. L.A. CA 90028 that was converted into an office, previously occupied by Rudolph Valentino.

In addition to local sales and leasing, Ara Der Sarkissian has now branched out to luxury vacation and investment homes in the International market, primarily in Mexico and Costa Rica. Has it been a smooth road?
Real Estate is never a smooth road as it is cyclical with full of surprises along the way. Just as location is an important factor, so too is timing. Having been in this business for over 50 years, we have pretty much been through it all. We have always provided advice and guidance as if it were our own deal and never in the interest of our commissions. We treat everyone like family. It’s the only way we know how to do business and a core belief passed on from my father, Sarkis.

As mentioned previously, we are a small boutique firm specializing in Residential & Commercial sales, leasing and development. What sets us apart from other Brokerages is the fact that we are truly interested in the success of each of our clients. Their success in their investments is our happiness. We are most proud of the fact that we have been very successful in creating numerous partnerships and LLC’s to develop and invest in retail property, including developments of shopping centers and apartment buildings. We do all the work from making sure the investment and project is a sound one, to being on site during the construction phase, leasing and either holding and managing the asset or disposition through a 1031 exchange into another property.
Each of our projects have been very successful and our clients are always asking to invest more of their funds with us, however, as mentioned before, we do not just jump into any project for the sake of doing a deal. We spend a considerable amount of time on due diligence.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Hollywood is a booming and growing city as evidenced by the numerous real estate projects, both residential and commercial going up all over. It is turning into a mini Manhattan. Although there are Realtors all over the place, if a new agent were to create their own niche with the right advertising and marketing, I don’t see why they couldn’t be successful as well.
