Today we’d like to introduce you to Andreea Radutoiu.
Andreea, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Romania and moved to Chicago, then NY and finally fell in love with Los Angeles. I find the diversity of locations here – mountains, beach, desert, fab houses – that I need to create freely. I have worked in fashion all over the world for more than 20 years. Fashion is where I started and it is a fantasy world that I love to visit and my portrait work has benefited greatly from my ability to connect with people in a quick and comfortable way in an environment that’s unknown to them.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly? The biggest challenge, in the beginning, was hearing people tell me how and what to do. My struggle was to find out what I wanted.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Andreea Radutoiu Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I love collaborating with my clients on different projects from fashion to books, to portraits.
At the top of my list, there is a coffee table book called MG. It’s on my site.
The project is about a wonderful dancer in her 50s Marjorie Goodson, which I collaborated on with Torsten Witte an amazing hair and makeup artist. I loved the concept of creating timeless, beautiful images that showtime does not define us. We are now working on our 2nd book and I am very proud of what we are creating.
I am currently working on my art exhibit SET IN STONE, which will take place in a couple of months. I am very excited! The images, some below and on my site, represent my interpretation of the map of time on faces.
Being a female photographer and the experience of being on both sides of the camera helps me create stories and communicate with my talent in an intimate unguarded language.
