Today we’d like to introduce you to Karina Speiginer.
Hi Karina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Karina- a very bubbly, loving, passionate Disney fanatic, and Hufflepuff. I’m usually making people laugh or making myself laugh with my own jokes. But as bubbly and fun as I may seem on the outside, I’ve always felt I was never really satisfied with how overly self critical I could be to myself, how my body looked and how I would stay inside my introverted comfort zone. I knew there were so many things I wanted to try in this life, so many places I wanted to see, and so many things I wanted to be. I just never took the plunge. A couple of years ago, I finally told myself that enough was enough!
I started making small changes in my everyday routines like; changing foods I ate and going for hikes on different trails. Soon after that, I started staying a night in cities I’ve yet to see with a best friend of mine. Then soon after that, I started modeling! Modeling was something that was always in the back of my head that I wanted to dive into, but felt intimidated because I thought I wasn’t pretty enough, or in good shape, or didn’t know how to pose and put makeup on (que the overly self critical side of me). Little did I know that my first meet (which happened to be an LM Meet) would be my first of my many and would begin something I really love to do. Rachel-who runs LM Meets- always has fun and incredible shoots with the sweetest most down to earth groups of creatives you’ll ever meet. She works so hard to make sure everyone is safe, having a great time, and that they feel comfortable. Im honestly so fortunate that her meet was my first, because it set me up for success. Now I really only ever go to her meets. Haha As for my fitness, it’s definitely a struggle to get yourself to stick to a routine no matter how much you switch it up. It’s a work in progress but I’m just happy that I can say that it’s progress. I can proudly say that I’m no longer that super introverted girl who stayed in her comfort zone. I’ve had so many amazing experiences ever since I just started living my life how I wanted, and I can’t wait to see what else I get into in this life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
What challenges weren’t there? Haha Battling depression episodes, a sexual assault, loss (both financially and family-related), being overly self-critical of myself, mixed in with a couple more things. Sometimes it felt like the whole world was just crumbling on my shoulders when everything would happen at once. But the way I look at it, is that God never puts anything in your path that you can’t handle. I’ve made it through those challenges. Every time I’m faced with a new one it just helps make me a stronger person with a different outlook on life, and that’s never a bad thing.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been in the customer service/hospitality industry since I was 17/18 years old. It’s all I know and I’m damn good at it! What can I say, I’m a people person! lol As introverted as I tend to be, it’s always been so easy for me to talk to people. So I’ve been fortunate enough to choose jobs where I get to interact with people daily. Don’t get me wrong, not every interaction is amazing, but the good always outweighs the bad. I feel like what sets me apart is how personable and how helpful I tend to be. I’ve always been the person that wants to really get to know people, make someone smile or help them with whatever they needed help with. Even something as simple as turning their horrible day into a great one. Everyday I make it a habit to smile at anyone walking passed me (a little harder nowadays with masks and everything), compliment someone, and talk to at least one person. You never know how your interactions with someone will influence both of your days.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
That’s always a hard question to answer because my answer is usually always revolving.
I’d love to be in a position where I’m making great money while doing something I love and am passionate about. I hope to have started a family, and own my own home.
I hope I’m able to keep helping and motivating everyone.
And hopefully by then, I’ll still be modeling for fun, as a way to earn income or both!
Most importantly, I see growth in myself in the future. I see it emotionally, physically and mentally.
